This is the issue you can get when classics become Public Domain. Sherlock Holmes is one of the most recognised characters in all of Fiction and essentially set the scene for the ‘Detective For Hire’ kind of character. Character is given mystery to solve, character solves mystery. Doyle, as well as others like Agatha Christie really did define Detective characters and his traits have survived forever in other characters in media, for instance, Batman, who is basically Sherlock but superhero billionaire. I mean, there’s a reason he’s survived in other forms. One of my favourite film versions being Mr Holmes, that Ian McKellen film where he’s an old man, great movie!

"Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century" is one of the better retellings of the old classic. Definitely in my top 3 in terms of good Sherlock as a stand-alone character (Bendydick Cumberbutt's version can eat ass, I hate broody Sherlock so much.) and definitely my top 2 Watson and Sherlock dynamics. They don't spend too long exploring how it affects Sherlock knowing that 22nd Century Watson isn't HIS Watson, but the time they do spend on Sherlock coping with that is very good. I recommend the show for people who haven't seen it. It used to be free to watch online but the fact that I can't find it anymore suggests the company now has it as a paid streaming option. I wouldn't pay more than $5 - $10 for the whole series, but it's a good little series for what it's worth. If you can't find it broadcast on TV or a legal streaming service, I can't say I wouldn't recommend checking out a boot at least once.

Well, that's just what I think.

There’s another problem with the dinosaur in this movie. You know how dinosaurs in movies are usually based on the reconstructions of dinosaurs generally accepted at the time of the movie’s release and inevetably get dated as we learn more about how dinosaurs actually looked and behaved. Well this movie has the opposite problem. The dinosaur model doesn’t look dated enough. This movie takes place in 1882 so this robotic dinosaur should resemble the way people thought dinosaurs looked like in the 1880s. Or are we saying that Holmes’s brother had not only advanced knowledge on robotics, but also possessed such advanced knowledge on paleontology that he knew how to reconstruct a theropod accurately to what we knew at the time of the movie’s release? Of course what this really shows is that the filmmakers likely just downloaded a publicly available dinosaur model from the internet and didn’t care if it fit in the world of the story. Granted a way too accurate dinosaur reconstruction is the least of this movie's problems when it comes to historical accuracy(Case and point: Thorp Holmes's Robots and flying machines) but my point still stands.

But there are so many Easter eggs in that movie if I knew how I would a make 15-minute video pointing them all out. For instance the Jeep in the motorcycle chase is the same Jeep the Thompson have in land of black gold The broken ear statue is on Tintin's fireplace mantel There's a pair of skis intentions apartment that have the initials ET on them The whole opening credits sequence is a Easter egg hunt for Easter eggs the Black Island The Rocket from destination moon Allen and Tom are both in the movie I also remember reading that only 5% of the characters in this movie all original face designs the last we'll all taken from Hergé's

thealchemist51 Did you know the guy who wrote that, Nicholas Meyer, also wrote Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, widely considered the best Star Trek movie? He was also heavily involved with Star Trek 4 and 6, two other great Trek movies. Also, he wrote a movie who's title escapes me that was about HG Wells (played by Malcolm McDowell) chasing Jack the Ripper (played by David Warner) through time into the present day. He may not be Conan Doyle, but he is a great writer on Conan Doyle's level- if not better, in some areas.

I watched this movie on a Sherlock Holmes server and I must admit. We had a lot of fun. It's so bad it's actually so fun to watch with friends; it's an utter waste of 1h39min if you are alone but it's SO FUN when you are a bunch of holmesian teens that have seen _a lot of shit with the character_ . We kept memeing what was happening on-screen, making pop culture references that will eventually really date the experience but we didn't care. This movie drags so much, nothing really happens, so many plotholes. I just- why does this exist lmao Anyways, awful movie and I love it very much.

16:30 Yes because homeless people would object to extra warmth when they are out in the cold all the time.

Man, I thought in the thumbnail the blonde dude behind Sherlock was John Watson, not Krimson!
