This is a documentary that I did for CSCC, about the boomerang generation.

Week 1 - Concept to Script
Coming up with an idea for a documentary was probably the most time consuming part of my project. I went over several ideas through my head before even hitting a piece of paper with a rough draft treatment. I wanted to do something that hasn't been done before, when almost everything I thought of has already been made. So I went over new topics that haven't been or currently happening such as Sexting, Losing a job through Facebook, and finally found an idea to use because I have so many friends that still live with their parents from ages 24-30.
Week 2 - Production
Filming was the easiest part of my documentary. Besides learning the proper way to frame a documentary I planned for the call off's and no shows and was let down multiple times by the same people. My biggest disappointment was a married couple I found that lived with a set of parents and a 27 year with no license that still lives at home. Though the interviewees were less dramatic I compensated for the material.
Week 3 - Post Production
Editing was and is my favorite part of working on a project. But once and for all I have learned my lesson, you really can't have enough B-Roll footage. I made with what I had cutting awayas much as possible so it would still be entertaining for the viewer. But never again will I stress to myself to never stop filming. I also wish I had more footage of parents talking about the economy and reasons why they stayed at home when they themselves stayed at home. Overall I think everything went according to my treatment but making the story of a Documentary is definitely in the editing.
