Love the Vintage Bronco. We had a '68 in high school, then traded it in for a '72, which my brother took to college in 1973. His nickname was Bronco, and mine, therefore, was Little Bronco. My brother was killed in a single engine plane crash in MT on 1987, so in memory of our childhood, I bought a '77 Bronco in 1988 in Tuscaloosa, AL. I still have it and cherish it eventhough the years have been tough on it. A classic memory.

My later brother bought a brand new Bronco off of the lot in 1971 for if I remember right, $2800.00 or less! It had a 302, and a 3 speed transmission. He drove it awhile, did some off roading, then swapped the 3 speed out for a F-150 4 speed with granny gear. It was featured in 4 Wheeler magazine with an article my brother wrote on how to swap the tranny step by step. It was in the 1980s when the story was featured. I used to have a copy of the magazine he gave me but was lost years ago. My older sister still has her copy. The featured article was titled; “Can’t Slow That Bronco Down”. Later he added a roll bar, a little lift and larger tires and wheels. He kept it until his death in 2011 and his widow sold it to my brothers best friend in 2014 for an undisclosed amount. The Bronco still had the original light blue paint and white top, barely faded and when I last saw it in 2013 it was just beginning to have surface rust where the body panels joined.

71 Bronco is way cool. Getting past any special meaning the year may or may not have: 74 is regarded by many as the pinnacle of early broncos because it has a better steering linkage setup than previous years, and is still pre-smog, which is a concern in many areas. Both the purple Bronco and this one have been cut out at the rear fenders. Stock, the rear opening was much smaller and car-like, limiting the stock tire size to 31". A really cool option was in 1976: the Sport had an oyster color interior, factory dual tanks and roll bar. Another option for a front roll bar hoop to clear the glovebox is to run flat steel uprights instead of tube, which allows for clearance of the glovebox and doors and getting in and out easier. Stock, the optional 302 with 3 speed column shift (three on the tree) could pull the front wheels off the ground! The 302 is an excellent off-road engine, with a wide power band, capable of high RPMs and excellent low end torque. The 302 was a popular Jeep CJ swap back in the day too. A modern EFI like a Holley Sniper can really wake the small block up and give amazing performance, economy and reliability. I'm just an old guy who remembers these rigs being common and inexpensive when I was young. Excellent vehicles with stellar performance potential while still being stable and safe for hauling the kids around! Solid axles front and rear, leaf spring rear and coil front suspension, available disc brakes (before they were standard equipment!) and still huge aftermarket support: with companies like Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and other enthusiast companies, you can build an entirely new Bronco from catalog parts! Looking forward to this build!! Old Sasquatch LOVES early Broncos!! I've owned several second (78/79) and a fourth generation (91) Broncos, and a 1976 Sport with the 302 and 3 speed. Any of the Broncos could run circles around my old 86 CJ7!! Enjoy!!!

Robby, you have to thank International Scout and Jeep for the introduction of the Ford Bronco. The Scout is still in use in Australia, and has a number of owners there. I owned a '64. The nice thing about the drive line is some of the parts are common on all three vehicles, like axles, transmissions and transfer cases, which are all made by Dana Corporation. Obviously, there are a few differences in the axles, as Ford used coil springs, and the other two used leaf springs.

I second Hillbilly on dropping a coyote in it. With vehicles, organ transplants are best kept within the family. That way Demri won't need to add a pint of Berryman's anti-rejection formula to the fuel every other time she fills up. Otherwise, that Chevy LS would try to jump out of there every time someone pops the hood. And that would be Bad. Excellent find, and I'm sure Demri will be thrilled with it when it's done.

Hey boss girl. Don't let them guys give you any crap about Fords. I owned a 68 Bronco for 45 years. When I live in northern Cal. It was stuck when I got it. Can you think I did do it was cut the fender put flares on it . Put some Armstrong true tracks 33 * 8 watch programs put a roll bar in it later brush guard. Put a brand new rebuilt in it high performance 289 with headers. 3 on the tree . It would make those back wheels bark and smoke. My cousin had a 72. With the 302 also a 3-speed. I don't know how many times I had to go pull him out at 3:00 in the morning. Brought it back to Missouri. Sold it 3 years ago.😢😢. My four kids grew up in that thing. Do you have three reasons of not working I had to get rid of it. And that they would go anywhere and everywhere. Sit back then we didn't have all that lift kit Jive bull crap what they have now. Well some of it there was. And then add the Chrome strip all the way around. Mine did not come with a back seat. The guy used it for taking bales of hay to his cattle. And you just had the top. The spare tire holder did not come with a swinging spare tire spare tire Ashley latch to the tailgate on the inside. But I found a swing in the original spare tire holder not put it on there. In my windshield did fold and sit on the hood. I had to remove is too long screws they were on the dash with the Chrome knob. After you took the top off to lay it down on the hood. Good luck to you girl... And yes all of my vehicles have been Ford and the GMS model well they broke down . They took a you know what. And I am a hell of a lot older than Robbie. Old school. 50s. Early.🤜🏽💥🤛🏽. Get you some of that. Girl you rock now. Just don't paint it pink. If you lived in Southern California on the beach that's different .🤟🏽🤙🏾👍🏽🤗😘😊😎🙋🏽♂️🥂🍾🎸. Mine was red and white.

As an owner of two 1972 Blazer‘s, that is my first choice. But the bronco has always been a fun and great vehicle. I like that there’s no window frames on the doors of the Blazer when the top is off and think it looks better. My Blazer never has the top on. If it’s truly hers, I’m OK with pink! A later model, 302 fuel injected, is an easy swap and very dependable. The coyote brings it to another level.

I can’t wait to see you build that lovely lady the car of her dreams. Those fender flares are not “factory” but they were a common modification and they usually cracked easily. The Bronco came with either an automatic or three on the tree and that might have been the original steering column resting on top of the hardtop but I couldn’t see it well enough. I had a ‘75 back in the day and although I’ve had 4X4s ever since, it was the best by far even without lockers.

Unless Demri is going to semi-seriously off road this vehicle, and I'll probably get flame for this, but I'd recommend putting a SBF (small block Ford) in it. Either a 5.0L or 5.8L. They were available OEM with a 302. Lots and lots of parts availability for the SBF, at reasonable prices. Or just get a long block engine from Ford Racing. When I did the resto-mod on my 1976 Jeep CJ5, I dropped in the Ford Racing 5.0L. Factory EFI, 24# injectors, 65mm TB, F150 SS headers. Ford rated it at 345~hp. It's all the power you'll need in that Bronco.

There’s another way to deal with the roll bar / glovebox conflict. On my ‘66 I modified the hinge so that once you unlatched the box the lid will slide left and clear the bar. Cheap and easy…

The windshield does not need a roll bar to support it. The fender flares are not factory, and the rear wheel openings will need to be cut out to mount the flares, look on your video at the Ford adds in the beginning and you'll see. I had a '69 Bronco with the factory 302 ci. V-8, 4.11 gears and limited slip rear axle. I miss having it, the Jeep Cherokee is a great substitute though.

I had a 1977 that was built-in December of 76 had a high pin Dana 44 front end. Tune a 1/2 inch exhaust. Automatic would do a 120. End, climb up the side up a building.😊
