Mik, I have to say as a fan of Vangelis since the mid 80s this is a truly superb cover of one of my fav vangelis pieces. I have heard this track literally hunfreds of times and never get bored. Seeing you play this is inspired me to get a midi keybaord and Logic for my Mac and start learing for myself. Ok I'm probably never going to reach your level but what a FANTASTIC cover. I even listen to it in the background over the original! If you have an other vangelis covers PLEASE post em. Brilliant!

I'm crying. This is so good. Brings back a lot of memories. There is a real niche of people who miss Vangelis sound from the early 80's. You could record that and sell it. That would work, I'm sure. The master himself is too old to get back at it so... you know...

great job mik10 on this composition, my boston acoustics speakers truely enjoyed the major synthesizer and so did my ears, might sound corny but these kinds of tunes with serious synthesizer are what get me relaxed when i seek it.

Great to see so many people take an interest in this most compelling of true stories. For anyone interested Bligh's grave is in St Mary Churchyard, Lambeth, London (where he is interred with his wife Elizabeth). I made a pilgrimage to Lambeth last year, and remembering what Bligh might have said, kept a stiff upper lip. Bligh's house at 100 Lambeth Road has railings outside the garden decorated with . . Breadfruit! I can understand Christian's emotions as my own my is Balinese.

I totally agree with that. I for instance do own a JD-990 with the vintage expansion card. It has the waveforms sampled from the CS80 :-D . You just need the spirit and listen a LOT to Vangelis, trying to get emotianal and stuff helps :-).

Wow! Those beautiful compositions, supported by such lush and fat atmosperics. These are exactly the reasons why I still listen so often to Vangelis. I have read that german interview. It all sounds very familiar. The album "Themes", a personal milestone in musical experience. On of my rare favourites, Abba with Eagle. And not listening to song texts much.

Amazing! I think that its good that its not exactly the same as the original, your version has its own character. I'd say this is as good as the original, I was quite amazed that you really got the vibe and sounds exactly right. Vangelis himself would be pleased with this! Sounds a whole lot better in stereo, exellent mix. Proves us at home guys dont need mastering engineers, doesnt it? I do similar music, will upload when I figure out the technology of it all!

You made a terrific cover, man, what is important is that you put the right spirit, the differences enrich your performance...by the way did you hear the full 20 mins suite that gets this track in its first third? After the end of the official track there's a marvellous solo on the CP electric piano and, after a climax, closing theme is reprised with full CS80 teaming with VP330 choirs...well you should give it a spin, the bootlegs call this track "The saga of hms bounty"...

Well spotted, yes the Juno G is superb for certain sounds but using it in multitimbral mode is a nightmare, midi can be a real pain at times. The real star of this track is the juno 6 which can be heard almost as an undertone doing the rich bassline. It really finished off the track and can be through the mix with very little tweaking

great Vangelis song, it's a pity that we loose a bit the magical aspect of the song, because it's played too quickly, a tempo problem in fact with crying sound on the beginning. I think with so much instruments, it's possible to improve it. but it's also a good performance and not easy to play that it looks like.

As many orchestras play the acoustic symphonic repertoire, why not many synthesizer players and electronic orchestras play the electronic repertoire? Very good, very well done. I would pay to go to an Odeon and watch live such a show with many tracks in this type of repertoire.

@Gizmoriderful Hi there and thanks:) The Juno G...it is a great sound library, the pianos and other acoustic instruments are superb, the price tag is heavy but you do get the phantom sound engine and a huge library of stuff you think you never need but when you do its there.. The downside is an un-necessary song recorder which I never use,but overall a wonderful tool to have in the box:)

It was an official release by off world records. Vangelis did not have any part of it. I have to say I envy you having the real thing with the colour booklet, because it truly is a collectors item. I didn't mean to get your back up, it's just that I have heard some of the tracks from it, and the audio is quite poor in places. As I said it is a collectors item. And becoming very valuable, so hang onto it!! Mick.
