Left all the girl of the Round Eye World and had no attachments so if something went bad wrong it would have less of an impact. I continued to distance myself from the girls and Friends as I was in THE Nam and returned. Thanks you for the song and reflections of the world as it use to be....

Mr. Reynolds thank you for that video. Forrest Ramos is my uncle and it was nice to see you put his picture in it. The song that reminds me of my uncle is 96 Tears...I faintly remember him now....but when I hear that song, I see him. Again thank you

I spent two tours as an infantry grunt in Nam, the only music we ever heard was in our memories. No radios, no record players just the sound of ak47s firing at us.

My Dad was with the boy's of 68." He arrived in Vietnam in March of 1968 and was assigned to Co B 3rd BN 47th Infantry 9th Infantry division, base camp was called "Bearcat." Two things happened amongst many while he was there, the assination of Dr MLK Jr in April had a very negative effect with the Black and Hispanic troops, they staged a mutiny within the ranks, refusing to go on patrol. The MP'S were called and everyone who partook in the revolt waa taken to jail. There can NEVER be a revolt of ANY KIND in the military, especially in a combat zone! The second, my Dad had to take part in one of the worst details: police up your DEAD buddies after a fire fight!! In a tropical environment dead bodies decay very fast and the air is filled with the stench of death!!...The first body he reached down to grab by the arm snapped loose from the shoulder and there he stood with the arm in his hand....He put it in the bodybag along with the remains. He it clear that war was NO Hollywood secne!! I'm a post Vietnam Veteran, I reported for duty in Aug. 1977 after completing training, I arrived at Ft. Lewis Wa in March of 1978 and was assigned to HHC 2ND BN 39TH INFANTRY, 9TH INF. DIV therefore I too am a "Old Reliable" and very proud to call all those who served with the 9th Infantry division my Brothers in arms. God Bless you all.

@@eddiesimms9301 quite a distinction that you and your father share Eddie ! Thanks for sharing it.. I was 11B with 4-39 when LTC Hackworth ( read "Steel my Soldiers Hearts" ) took command in January and was wounded 22 May and medically retired in '71... hope all is well Brother!!

Jerry Sullivan ; This is Eddie Simms responding to your comment about LTC Hackworth. Ol' "Hack" as many troops refered to him was a DAMN GOOD Bn CMDNR and didn't take him very long to get the Officers, NCO'S and the Enlisted men into shape and FIT to FIGHT!! I wished I had him for my BN CMDNR because the early years of the all volunteer Army just flat out SUCKED!! And by way, I too have the book, it's a very good read.

@@eddiesimms9301 Howdy Eddie..Hack was indeed a great military leader and a prized friend in later years. I had the honor of presenting his flag at Arlington back in '05 ..
