Love the way this was filmed. Reminds me of how they did it back in the 70s when a filmed live concert showed the artists in an intimate way. Their emotions, their playing styles and interactions with each other. Slow pans, close up shots, unexpected shots with nice depth of field really elevate this excellent performance. Too many times these days the filming of such events just use cheap tricks zooming in and out quick camera changes everywhere to simulate a great performance. You don’t need that with a great band like BJM. Sound recording is excellent as well. Kudos to all.

BJM plays in this concert a lot of songs from their last 2 albums released after covid as well as many songs from the old catalogue made 1-3 decades ago .The band’s (neo)psychedelic sound is vast and distinct with shades of VU, Stones , Early PF, Kinks, Byrds , a little Beatles and Dylan as well as some 80s bands like Spacemen 3, Galaxies 500 . BJM sound remains sharp and vital through out the 3 hour set though only two original members - Newcombe and Gion remain in the band . BJM music has a very high mental play back factor . For example, I listened to the latest Foo Fighters album (which I liked a lot) , but soon after I felt compelled to tune into this concert of BJM because Pish, Servo , Fudge and The Real were playing in my mind

@@jgwire for me the best part of music is that one shouldn’t have any set rules while listening. I like old and neo psychedelic rock , alternative rock, hard rock, blues rock, prog rock folk/ acoustic and even jazz rock . I might listen to Steely Dan- Black Angles- REM - Nick Drake- Wilco- Tom Petty & HB one after another . There is no rule or logic that after listening to BJM, one should listen to similar bands like Warlocks or Black market karma . In fact that would be repetitive and boring During flights or long road trip while playing one album , my mind tells to what to listen next .

I agree. It brought such joy to see a well-oiled BJM over the last few years -- but something went terribly wrong on tour after tour this year. I am pretty such at some point he started drinking. Late last year, it all ended with a bad brawl onstage in Melbourne between Anton and Ryan -- finally Anton collapsed onto his amp, clearly shaken, then the curtain starts coming down and he's just sitting there shaking and shaking his head ---had enough pain yet, Anton? Then get home and get teated for your mental illness and alcoholism. I had a ticket for the 23 show - but I had a bad feeling after seeing all these clip or just terrible shows -- he was riding this band so hard there was no way they were gonna please him, especially the drummer, poor guy, At shows, .Anton ping pongs back and forth from between desperation to exhilaration -- and he started bashing his band and the audience-- where were throwing things at stage....It was DIG all over again, except it wasn't a movie....this was the real deal. And man it was ugly. I think Anton will rebound, but it's gonna take some time --and a lot for these guys are not gonna be in the next version of BJM -- and I'm sure there will be one......its the only thing that keeps Anton sane. JMHo thanks.

Greatest part of bjm is AN's incessant scolding of his band members when he feels, right or wrong, that they are out of tune or rhythm during the start of a song. I used to text with him on youtube some yrs ago when he thought one of my comments wasn't complimentary enough when in fact is was all love and happiness. Guy's a fkn narcissist of course but one helluva a talented songwriter. I love Newcomb in spite of our meaningless debate. One of the best underground Indy bands ever in my mind.

He essentially quit out of embarrassment. Even though the manager wanted to give him a chance to recover. I drove my friend home that day. He lived-in Fairfax. He gets off the car and I see a cop car in my rear view mirror. I tell him to hurry up because I was parked illegally AND I suspected he had heroin in his back pack.
