The transition from "you wonderful boy" to "you brave, brave man" is outright brilliance. I think that’s exactly why he was placed in Griffyndor. Harry is just the embodiment of bravery for all the horrible things he went through and overcame. Lupin said it best with the dementors. He said the reason why Harry saw such horrible things through the dementors is because he has faced true horrors in his life. And even after that Harry also ended up suffering from trauma and PTSD from the grave yard scene, having watched Cedric die and Voldemort return. Plus he was tortured by Voldemort himself. And even after all that people mocked him and called him a crazy liar and and unstable attention seeker for trying to warn them of Voldemort returning. He went through so much other stuff also but I don’t want this comment to get longer than it already is lol.

Honestly, not enough people talk about how good these movies are from a filmmaking perspective. The CGI in these movies (aside from a few instances in the first two) have aged so well. Goblet of Fire especially has mind blowing visuals, a lot of the cinematography (as you mentioned) is stunning to look at and the acting in these movies is truly incredible. We could have had an Artemis foul or even worse situation but thankfully the writers and teams cared about the source material and made sure they adapted as much as they could despite having the limitation of not know how the books would end given the books were still being completed while the first couple of movies were being made. Despite its flows, the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings Movies were examples of movie creators, for the most part, respecting the author and source materials. As Peter Jackson said, "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. What we were trying to do was to analyze what was important to Tolkien and to try to honor that. In a way, we were trying to make these films for him, not for ourselves." That respect for source material, the creators and respect for Fans is something lacking today.

The "Harry and Hagrid" parallels are a legacy of the book, while most of the other moments are cinematic creations (as in how they were framed and stuff, which was not explicit in the book). But the Hagrid being the one to bring baby Harry to Privet Drive and then being the one with real Harry during the battle of 7 Potters, and similarly, Hagrid carrying Harry's supposedly dead form, were all motifs from the book, which I love.

This is honestly the best video essay about the franchise I ever seen. The detail you went in to it and the emotion behind your voice truly shows how it not only impacts you, but others as well. My favorite part of this would have been when you were talking about the utilization of the films. I am not a film major myself, but it is thanks to you I am more analytical to films I enjoy. Ever since I started to watch your video essays, I feel a little smarter on the process it takes to make a film. My favorite film essay is most likely the prisoner of Azkaban and how it was the best shot cinematically. And I love how you touched on how each film did that. With hit being transitions, establishing shots, or even the simple fact of a door opening or closing. It is thanks to you that I feel as if I learned more about film making, despite not being in the field myself. I can talk to a friend of mine who is in film making and I often use you as reference on how I learn as much as I have. Even though I still have so much to learn. I loved how a lot of this video was to help show how the films rhyme or expand on one another without it feeling...how do i put this, overused? No I think the better term would be that you made it feel like a loved project. 3 weeks went in to making this, I can only imagine how many times you must have watched the films to notice all of these. Your editing style certainly makes this feel more connected. Sometimes we have side by sides, sometimes its a quick jump cut to the next half of your point. But none of it ever feels lazy as if "oh and here we have". It feels like you are saying "And with this part" without even having to say the words. I will admit I teared up watching this beautiful video. It was well made, paced, and most importantly it conveyed the message almost perfectly. I say almost cause nothing can be perfect, there is always something someone will disagree on. I can certainly say that I loved watching this video essay, and all others that you made. Each essay has something unique about them, and I am not referring to the theme each was based on. But a sense of how you truly feel. I remember hearing you tell us how you got in to the franchise through your grandmother, and seeing these makes it kind of feel like a passion project to her. At least in my eyes. You put so much passion and love in it, and that truly shows. Keep up your beautiful work Morgan, I am sure that you make countless people proud with how you make these videos. I am sure if my school would ever have a class based on video, we would probably seen one of your videos as an example on how to create a video essay.

My favorite cinematography moment will forever be the one in HBP after Hermione attacks Ron with the "oppugno" spell the camera follows her as she sits back down with Harry, Ron and Lavender as they go up in one of the towers and Draco atop the Astronomy tower. It shows how at the end of the day, Hermione will always have Harry, Ron will always have someone, but Draco is all alone because he never really extends his friendship to anyone. Sure he had Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise and Pansy, but he never really let his guard down for anyone. If HBP had more shots like this and less unnecessary shoe tying, it really could have been in the top three.

Another detail I always adore is how Narcissa Malfoy aides Harry by faking his death in front of Voldemort. Even if Narcissa meant it as an opportunity to confirm if Draco was alive, it's an amazing parallel to Lily's final sacrifice for her own son. Both parents protected Harry with the power of a mother's love.

Nobody talks about how at the end of deathly hallows part 2, when all of the OG’s have sent their kids off to Hogwarts, A chocolate frog jumps into their cabin. At the beginning of sorcerers stone, as Harry, Ron and Hermione are unwrapping candy they open a chocolate frog that jumps out of their cabin. I took the frog jumping inside at the end of Deathly hallows as the start of a new generation/Cycle. It was a nice way to wrap up the series symbolically.

A million thank yous to you! I found your channel earlier this year and so quickly became an avid fan. I realised that so much in the films hadn’t made much sense to me because I hadn’t read the books. So I bought the set of books and films, watched each film after finishing each book, and thoroughly enjoyed both so much more after your analysis and unparalleled insights. You do beautiful work and I so appreciate you bringing so much more meaning to this world for us. Blessings sent your way x

Something I love is how the Golden Trio walks, they have this order, almost. Harry, then Ron, then Hermione. Yes it can be broken, but it's strange how often you see it in the films.

I love the movies, but I would love to see someone come back to the franchise and recreate it all into a TV show, Animated or live action show it would be pretty interesting because you could probably do a lot more withe the extra time with every book being its own season
@shedblood1645

@Erik Kemeey read the books? they cut a lot of stuff, and rush through a lot of other stuff. im saying it would be cool to see everything, a television show allows they more time per book to add more details that we missed out on and add more that we haven't even seen. plus, I think if they do it, it should probably be animated because it's hard to bring something fictional to life in a real world (akin to maybe something like arcane I suppose, where they develop their own unique art style just for it)

this makes me so happy because i understand the books are a masterpiece in literature but most of the time i feel like people use the original books to discredit the movies. Yes, the movies have flaws and they arent the perfect copy of the books but they are such beautiful and powerful films. I grew up with the films. I've been watching then since i was 6 and they've been a big part of my life and the morals i stick to even though i was born almost a year after the last film was made. Love the video! I've been subscribed to your channel for almost 3 years now and I love your harry potter content

If the movies are perfect copy of books then there would not be any creativity from the movie directors script writers. These people are talented individuals why they will totally copy something instead of making it better

Don't worry. It's cool to hate on HP nowadays over ridiculous reasons. But they can't deny the fact that HP alone, even more than Lord of the rings and other fictional books, inspired children, two generations at least, to read books. Books, in a world where they could have easily resorted to video games and social media instead.

I like how in the first movies, as kids, it was brighter and had colourful tones, while in the last ones as they get older the tones get darker and of course the overall plot got darker as well. And for all the people who grew up as they got older they movies fit their new age as it was more mature
