Néhány felmenőm Angliából ide, az Egyesült Államokba vándorolt be, egy kis megállóval Price Edward szigetén, körülbelül négy generációval ezelőtt, és én rendkívül büszke vagyok rá. Sam Hart You're completely right, if it wasn't for the pilgrims trading with the Native Americans and colonizing the East Coast of North America. Some die of drinking water, Some die of drinking beer. Some die of constipation, And some of diarrhea. But of all the world’s diseases, There is none that can compare. With the drip, drip, drip of the syphilitic prick, Of the British Grenadier. When he goes forth in battle, With his weapon in his hand. The lasses fall like cattle, There’s none can make a stand. But when the campaign’s over, It’s then he feels so queer, With the drip, drip, drip of the syphilitic prick, Of the British Grenadier. And when he does retire, To take his well earned rest. There burns an ancient fire, To do what he does best. Ant yet the truth is bitter, There’s one thing that they fear. It’s the drip, drip, drip of the syphilitic prick, Of the British Grenadier. I like the girls who say they will, And I like the girls who won’t. I hate the girls who say they will, And then they say they won’t. Some talk of Alexander, and some of Hercules Of Hector and Lysander, and such great names as these. But of all the world's brave heroes, there's none that can compare. With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, to the British Grenadiers. Those heroes of antiquity ne'er saw a cannon ball, Or knew the force of powder to slay their foes withal. But our brave boys do know it, and banish all their fears, With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, for the British Grenadiers. Whene'er we are commanded to storm the palisades, Our leaders march with fusees, and we with hand grenades. We throw them from the glacis, about the enemies' ears. With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, the British Grenadiers. And when the siege is over, we to the town repair. The townsmen cry, "Hurrah, boys, here comes a Grenadier! Here come the Grenadiers, my boys, who know no doubts or fears! Then sing tow, row, row, row, row, row, the British Grenadiers. Then let us fill a bumper, and drink a health of those Who carry caps and pouches, and wear the loupèd clothes. May they and their commanders live happy all their years. With a tow, row, row, row, row, row, for the British Grenadiers.

Mostly because twats who think they're being "edgy" or "cool" (or whatever the bloody term they use is nowadays) decided it would be funny to make some incredibly racist comments relating to a recent disaster in New Zealand. I'm not surprised the uploader disabled the comments, and I feel deeply saddened that this march has now been sullied by the actions of a single racist cunt who decided to commit mass murder all across Christchurch.
@tetragon2137

@Warspite I'm hoping that eventually that cunt will be consigned to the history books, and people once again associate this song with British culture/jokes about Teaboos (apparently that's a thing now)/jokes about RN BB's in WoWs.

The first instance, I think, was at the end of ep. 3, when Oarai's team sees St. Gloriana's tanks and ship for the first time. I actually stopped after ep. 2 at first too, but later picked up the series again and was pleasantly surprised.

@@jbfh7420 I get what you’re saying but if I live in Europe then even if I don’t identify as European I still am European as a consequence of having been born in Europe and raised there. A Scottish person can indentify purely as Scottish but that doesn’t change the fact that they were born on the island of Britain. The culture of these British isles are intrinsically linked. People can identify as more than one thing. Neil Oliver for example is Scottish but he also identifies as British as a part of his identity. Like an American being proud of their state and their country overall.
@jbfh7420

@@Valencetheshireman927 there are terms for these things. Nationality and ethnicity. Nationality: legal term, who is born / has citizenship in a state. A resident. Ethnicity: social grouping based on cultural distinction between an in-and-out group centered around geography, race & history. What is a state? Organised political community, run by one government. I hardly think I would identify with the state as a political "community" I'm mostly not a part of. An ethnic group transcends state boundaries. I'm not defined by the political class / bureaucracy of the state I live in. People don't define themselves by a political class 🙄. If I live in the UK and am greek, ethnically but have british citizenship then: I am part of a distinct cultural (ethnic) group I am grouped arbitrarily by state with other people (nationality) People who identify with nationality only identify with "living" in a place. You can't group english and scottish people together based on cultural similarities; the connections those provide are very limited. I think that people identify more with the state because of a change in priorities. Social organisms were more important to survival in small(er) communities but now the state and the market provide for us (except those things aren't "personal" - they aren't people, rather they are superstructures) You are not wrong but I think you need to consider the definitions of ethnicity and nationality.
