Yes Clark. I hear what you are saying in this video and I agree with your very wise insights. As a mental health therapist I would like to say that there will be people out there who follow your videos who split hairs about the way you describe shadow work. Don't pay any attention to them. Some people have very strongly held opinions about how you should describe any mental health topic, whether mental illness, or growth over weaknesses (shadow work). The truth is I have had a wide-variety of clients and used very different language with each client based on how they needed to hear certain truths for their own healing and growth. Don't let others dictate how you describe shadow work. There is not a right or wrong way to describe the process. I get a little irritated with people who want to correct others and say we shouldn't use the word "weaknesses" when describing things we want to overcome as humans. These individuals think it is somehow a "judgy" word that means we are blaming others (or ourselves) while trying to move forward. Nope. We don't have to explain or change the way we describe the process of growth (shadow work) for the nit-picky folk who try to impose their definitions and semantic judgment on others. You are doing a great job on your channel. I love to watch your videos! If a client started correcting or complaining to me about how I describe shadow work to them. I would ask them how they would describe it. After letting them talk for a minute or two, I would follow up with saying "there are many ways to describe this process but we all know what we are talking about when we describe it." Then finally I would gently shut them down for trying to manipulate how others describe this process. It is an arrogant way for them to say "I know more than you do about this topic and you must describe it precisely how I would, otherwise you're an idiot!" I don't tolerate that kind of behavior towards me in my mental health practice. I have been a therapist more than 30 years and feel comfortable in my own skin when people challenge me. Turning that around, you have great mental health insight Clark. You hit it out of the park nearly every time. If you ever wanted to become a therapist it would be such an easy step for you. You already have that mindset. Yet I assume that you already love what you do! You inspire so many people! Just saying. From my mental health therapist background, you don't need to change your message for anyone or the way you describe the growth mindset. You are doing an excellent job and you are already an "expert" when it comes to describing these kinds of things. Yes, expert. You have put in the hard work over many years to learn this subject matter and it shows. Don't let the naysayers tell you anything.
@zion367

@@crystallevin I fully agree that we dont have to adjust the definitions in order to keep others "untriggered". Their trigger is due to their own judgment, not ours. However, if you take it personal when others get uncomfortable with a certain term, then there is something for you to unpack. For them it is not about challeging you, but about a judgment they hold within themselves that gets triggered. If you are really comfortable in your skin then you can openly listen to their reasoning and you can gently guide them to deeper selfunderstanding on the topic without feeling challenged.

More of this Clark please. You are getting to the essence of inner work. For me, my shadow work changed how I see others and, through that, how i see myself. Now I know, when meeting new people, everyone is ‘broken’ like me, and that is ok, because that is the human condition. Those insecurities, fears and defences are at the heart of all of us. It can sometimes actually be faintly amusing to see friends deny them while leaking them left and right! Of course ‘Society’ demands that we hide them but I nowadays can feel so much more compassionate when I see them because I have them in me too. That takes much of the pressure off me to be perfect. I can accept myself as normal, flaws and all. Keep spreading the good stuff.

@@cobblecattt haha! For sure. I constantly amaze myself with my own ability to surround myself in denial. I can and do contort whole areas of my life to maintain the charade. Again I think we all do. It’s a key method we use to protect ourselves from the reality of being the watchful, fearful animals that we really are. The magic is, of course, once we start to truly accept that reality, we can then start to use better strategies to manage it and enact real change in our lives.

Thank you for this, I’m hard on myself for having flaws, and sometimes hard on others (in my own head, mostly), so the reminder that everyone is flawed is appreciated. I also acted out of fear and unjustified anger last week, and kind of hurt one of my friends. (I was triggered, essentially, because while what she did sparked it off, my reaction to it had nothing to do with her)
@FreddieDaniells

@@ShintogaDeathAngel Thank you for commenting. Don’t worry, I have been working on this for years but still make all the same mistakes! You are normal! lol. The only tools I have found that help are to become aware of where my fears show themselves, to show compassion for myself for being human, to sometimes have to say sorry to others, and to then find the courage to try new behaviours and habits. I have come to see that this is not a destination where I will one day wake up and be ‘fixed’. There is no ‘perfect’ me, much as some youtube videos suggest or that my ego might like there to be! It is a journey…each year just trying to be a little better than I was last year. I hope that helps.

Love this. I just want to mention something that I've learnt from an awesome KZitem channel called The Alchemist: The "triggers' we see in other people, doesn't necessarily mean that we're always seeing a projection of something about ourselves that we don't like. It can also be an indication of something that's missing. A trait that's been tucked away completely because we don't like the way it presents itself in the world. Think of Arrogance vs Confidence. You despise arrogance in others, so to compensate for this perceived "wrong" in the world, you shrink your own ego down to nothing. But, now you can't seem to get the respect or love you want, because you don't have any confidence. This makes you despise arrogance even more, but it's not because you yourself are arrogant, it's because you subconsciously wish you had more confidence. Shadow work can show us where the balance has been disturbed. The hard part is in correcting it without overcompensation.

That's an interesting point about insecurity, because we are acutely aware of our own insecurities that we think of it like something that is obvious to an outside observer. They sometimes can be if we have internalized those insecurities to the degree that they effect the way we live our lives or carry ourselves, but even then most people aren't paying attention and even the most outwardly confident people have insecurities like everyone else.

This is EXACTLY the conclusion I came to as well over the past few months. I just watched my entire friend group fall apart bc they all got triggered by someone else’s healing and they started blaming that their discomfort of the situation was someone else’s fault instead of looking at their own healing instead. Gosh you said it so well too that laughter is the key! My entire friend group Started taking everything way too seriously including me, because fear is exciting and confusing when you don’t have answers on how to heal yourself. It’s easy to point the finger and blame someone else. It’s too easy to over complicate life and take everything to seriously. I’ve finally learned how to see that my intentions were always the best that they could have been at any given time and it’s helped me not to shame myself for what I didn’t know in that moment. Your video gave 100% confirmation for me, thank you. 🙏

I love this style! I’m not a formal person… I’m more playful, light hearted and rebel haha I love so much bringing up what we see as “bad things” underlying has a good intention. This has helped me heal my feelings with my mom and her decisions. What I also started to understand is yehhh pulling the mirror down when we are triggered is helpful but what I found is it’s not necessarily the “act” we relate to… it’s the underlying emotion their act causes within us that is being mirrored back. Ya know? Every “act” creates a different emotion in different people. 🤍🌟✨💫 shine on Clark! Love your material 🌞

The flow of this video actually works well for me because the influencer-lists sometimes feel a bit contrived, and I find myself focusing on keeping track of the numbers, determining if the points are in the right order (weird. I love you too. Have to say this video is refreshing and it's rare that I pick up something profound from two different videos back-to-back so, thank you. Here's my 2¢ on fear/negativity. Fear is the was we biblically call "Bad". There are more flavors of fear than Baskin Robbins. Anxiety, Stress, Tension, Nervousness, indifference, etc; All fear. The devil is an internal mindset when we let fear or other negative emotions to control what we do. Negative motivations are what we call sin. Good Deeds are acts motivated by positive emotions. Good is an investment that increases what you put into it. Bad is paid at face value. Someimes you may make a mistake but so does everyone else. We are entitled to make mistakes but what really really matters are your intentions. If your intentions are truly good then you will still get that multiplying effect. When you make a mistake try again. Don't shut down communication. Don't give up. Most importantly. You need to include yourself in the equation when considering if you are doing good. If helping another causes you more harm than it does them good, it's a bad deed.

I was glued to this part, to you talking about this realisation you had. You showed your vulnerability, and it was beautiful. I welcome more vulnerable, stream of consciousness type vids like this. As a fellow performer - podcaster, musician, etc - my advice (to let go of the perfectionist) is to focus on what makes you excited. My best episodes have been the ones where I’m too excited to worry about how I’m coming across, and to this day they’re my favourite ones. Recall your excitement for your content.🌷💫

Love this one! NEEDED this reminder as I was just turning back to shadow work for hope and duhhhh! You nailed it. In my words it's "the potential for both sides is always there." That helped me break through cause we are whole triggers me by association with chasing enlightenment. Muah! ❤

I’m a first time viewer! Love the informal delivery, point-by-point content with a brief descriptions and examples! Thank you for making this kind of content on topics that could really heal this world! Healing starts with each of us, then we can all make a better world to live in! Thank you, too, for being vulnerable, it helps connect you to the viewer. Side note, I watch someone who posts ADHD content, and they admitted after several years that they were being Ableist to themselves and their viewers, which helped me appreciate them more. Sometimes it’s good to know when you’re “wrong” (subjective, I know). Good to have a chance to learn together! Sorry for the long comment! Excellent content, great delivery, thank you again! Be well ♥️

Man .. I met you with the video " why not to drink alcohol" and from there... its been AWESOME to see your content, you talk about basically everything that need to hear and this particular video is where I am NOW... for me has been very important that you say to keep it FUN, since the idea is not only acceptance but curiosity about yourself and what can be accomplished. once you integrate your shadow!.. I like this Video formula, keep it!

I used to be ashamed of crying, as my life has progressed I now cry way more than I an comfortable with, but I have realized that having my soul open to life means I am actually living life versus going through the motions. Can't have joy without knowing pain. It's a emotionally raw place to be but a so much fuller life to live than the semi stoic way I grew up.

Holy shit! Thank you so much! I stumbled upon your videos today and this is the second one I watched. I honestly think this is what I have been missing to push past my ceiling. I've been in a big slump even though I'm trying so hard to manifest and be positive. The previous video is where you talked about the story with the thorn in the lady's side and just ignoring it. This shadow work stuff is intense and important. I find I ignore the darker sides of myself because I don't want to dwell on negativity when in fact healing myself and getting to the root of my beliefs is so important. Then I can take the tools I have learned and know and grow. Knowing I will find difficult things to overcome but being able to think about them in a way that doesn't put blame but just questions and learns and grows. Thank you. ❤

I loved this video so much. It felt more authentic. Personally, I hate when people seem to have it all together. I sure don't, so I'm unable to relate. I look for realness, genuineness, authenticity, real-world experience, and wisdom. Our wisdom comes from mucking it up and learning how to get back up again and again, infinitely. Not the toxic positivity bull crap peddled on the internet these days. Authenticity leads to connection.

I fuck with this so much🙌🏾 everyone has an opinion on what attachment style should look like how to behave what’s right and what’s wrong. To the point where even secure individuals have undoubtable flaws that go along with secure concepts. He hit the nail on the head with acceptance I love this.

Finally started putting my phone down and just listening to ME, became more aware of what I AM THINKING. The first week doing it I was triggered AF, when realizing as a Conscious creator I had all the answers it freaked me out. Biggest take away was realizing I didn’t have to fix and fight my thoughts just BE and focus on what I want and remind myself of who I am. It’s you vs you, that’s it.

This is what makes you extraordinary and ACTUALLY "VIRTUOUS" in the self-improvement industry: Where instead of only helping people fix their lives by "improvement" you're also addressing the shadow element, the healing element which is imperative. Or else, even after achieving all the goals, status, etc, we're still in the domain of superficial fears, insecurities, etc and etc--hindering the absolute utilization of our potential.

Shadow work is anything we choose not to look at, deny. It is not only denser, darker energies and traits, but can be gifts, talents and powerful aspects. There is gold in the shadows. An example is: in a world where personal power can be seen as a threat (especially for females), we push our power down for reasons of safety, staying below the radar. Therefore, retrieving our power would be part of our “shadow work”. ❤

Amazing video. This was very helpful. When one realizes that everyone has their own shit to deal with it gives me a sense of calmness as I'm not the only one and also great way to give grace and compassion for others. More content like this would be appreciated. Thanks Clark.

Clark, your videos are soooo insightful. I've watched many videos on self-growth for other people, but your videos are concise, easy to understand and you come across so genuine and fun. I've had a lot of haha moments watching your videos, and I even write down some of the most important parts of them. I am so grateful for you, I wish I could give you a big hug (in a non romantic way, okay? 😂). So much love from Portugal ❤

Hi Clark. Whilst it's a nice, polite thing to say. Don't ever believe some individuals don't come out of the factory broken, built differently with a complete objective to mess with mankind.They exist. Worry not though.

This was really on point! Thanks for reminding of those positive intents behind fear like prorection ❤ the goal is to find pathway to that unhurt heart and wholeness with full colors, ability to laugh and enjoy life that waits us on the other side of darkness that is part of life 🙏 Acceptance of all parts in ourself to exist is big key to unlock shadow work gold. All emotions serve their purpose as messangers and should be allowed to deliver their message.
