My name is Tamam, Umm Musa, known as Umm Musa. I'm a bus driver, driving a large passenger bus in the Galilee region. I started my life like anyone else. I was good in school and applied to university, but we didn’t have the means for higher education due to financial reasons."
Tamam continues:
"I was born in a place where it was strange for a woman to drive. Even when I was learning to drive, I did everything in secret, as if it were something shameful. I started working as the only woman in this field back then, in a job that was considered a man's job. Driving long hours and traveling far distances wasn’t common for women."
She talks about her career growth:
"I started driving school kids in my hometown, and then I expanded to factory work. Today, I’m responsible for twenty lives on my bus, the workers I transport, and the school kids I take from their homes to school and back."
Tamam proudly shares her accomplishments:
"Today, I run an entire transportation company. I started alone, but now I have people working with me, and families rely on my project that once seemed like a taboo. My daughter says I’m their friend before I’m their mother, and my daughters are always proud of me."
With a smile, she adds:
"And my other daughter says, 'Mom did something amazing, something really cool!
