Best ending no contest. Aston's character has matured and grown to the point of being able to flatly reject even taking a glance at his "true love" for the better good. It's a really bittersweet ending. It's sad they can't be together, but it's REALLY beautiful and uplifting that they can ascend beyond that and live a life without creating hell for each other and their friends.

I always wonder what was going through Kayleigh's mind for those few seconds she turned... Was a fleeting tought of, "hey this cute tall guy sort of reminds me of some kid that said something horrible to me when I was a little girl"..

Even if the overused "there are other fishes in the sea" phrase, there is always the once in a lifetime encounter with a Great White shark that is just unlike any other fish and it produces an experience you'll carry until your last day..

Last week I watched it for the second time after 15 years for no apparent reason. My folks recently broke up after years of fighting, arguing, yelling and screaming each other. All this time, I tried sooo much and sooo hard trying to stop them hurting each other. Thank god The turmoil was only psychological, not physical. (Get what I am grateful for? Pathetic!) So I watched the film and at the end, when I watched this sequence👆I just bursted into tears, shedding one after another. My brakes were all shot to hell. I couldn't stop them. All this time, I tried in vain. Because I finally got that, that I was not suppose to try and fix my parents' relationship. No matter how much I loved them, It was never gonna happen. I understood that even if I had a power like Evan and changed something in the past, it wasn't going to be better. There was no point to struggle for some fixing or to feel sorry because I failed. It is and was literally impossible. I am so grateful for this movie to help me understand the fact that some things in life are just not meant to be.🤷😓

@@Christopher420 I actually did lol. Personally, regardless of the cliche, I enjoyed more this version due to the aesthetic of it (the ending sequence with "stop crying your heart out" brings tears to my eyes). I didn't enjoy the director's cut as much due to the extravaganza of an actual fetus committing suicide. To be fair the meaning behind it makes more sense and it's far more emotional so I can see why most people prefer it as you do.

This ending reminds of me a woman I was never able to get together with and I am glad I didn't get together with her- because she reminded me a lot of someone of whom I really don't have a great relationship with- and I am now married to my wife and my wife and I enjoy each other's company as well as our lives together. As a matter of fact- my wife and I will be married 2 years this August. So- I think the moral of the story is- no matter good or bad- one person can have an impact on our lives for better or worse. Plus- Oasis' song "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is a good ending theme to this movie.
