Delightful video! Seems you doubled up on mojo for this one😉 I guess Alan and the sunshine both helped to put that big smile on your face.🌞 The ride along the coast right after Folkstone seems nice, with that beautiful, dramatic coastline. But I just can't believe you didn't try to make some noise at that sound mirror and listen how it comes back,🎶that should be obligatory! Or, along with your other gymnastics, stand on Alans shoulders, put your naked ear right in the middle of that parabola, and report back to us about the latest gossip from the coast of northern France!😉 It is a most entertaining outro-squabble you two treat us to. I say let Alan speak! Because you should know, that he can be quite mischievous when you talk to the camera alone, while leaving him in the background, totally unattended. He's got some serious skills of subtle visual comedy. Sometimes his gestures will fully accompany your words, but other times it will be quite the opposite. He might as well be doing random stuff, like tasting mud on a stick, or posing for a mugshot... Yes, I've seen him do this, in earlier videos! And it makes me laugh so hard, I can't hear a word of what you're saying... So, again, put him in front of the camera where you can see him, otherwise God knows what he'll be up to!😄😉 Important question: Would a real high-brow screw a castle?🪛🤔 Risking serious cracks in the masonry... For me, I'm quite picky with masonry. I'd like it to be made of natural materials like stone, or old clay bricks with different hues and shades. It must have a patina of time, and an interesting surface, preferably featuring some delightful vines climbing here and there, though not covering the whole wall. And, there should be an archway, through which you could get a glimpse of a lush, colourful, somewhat overgrown, but still beautiful garden...
@JethroJessop

I am fully aware of the things Alan gets up to when he thinks I'm busy talking to camera. I try to make this channel an island of intellectual introspection and high minded concepts and there's Alan in the background, talking to a snail or closely examining some imaginary feature of a tree. Sometimes I despair, I really do. But he's fun to have around so I put up with his foolishness ;) I do actually quite like masonry too. I'm in your camp there and favour it covered in vines, moss and ferns. Preferably surrounded by forest and maybe a waterfall as well. Full Lord of the Rings style setting!

I have a lot of issues with many parts of the national cycle network. You're definitely right with the complaint about it being 'busy'. I've done Canterbury to Ramsgate and Canterbury to Dover on my bike before, the former on an early summer sunny day and the latter on a little bit rainy little bit cold winter day and on that sunny day it was fairly constant having to slow down or ring my bell to warn people of me cycling through. That's also ignoring how many walkers (mainly with dogs) clearly hate having to share the area with bikes. The signage along the route doesn't seem to be seen as you'll end up with people tutting at you or looking at you as if you're in the wrong when you're literally cycling along a national cycle network route. That cold(ish) rainy day was almost perfect compared. I did Folkestone to Dungeness on a foggy winter day and that was decent but I bet that is pretty awful on hot summer days as well. Basically these are rubbish cycle routes when there are a lot of people out as most of it is "shared" use. It's only watching your videos of this that I've realised that I've done about 80% of the Cantii way in separate trips without realising I was doing it. I'm now going to do the Wye to Dungeness section and finish off the loop. I haven't watched your video of that bit yet though, may wait until after cycling it to not ruin any bits.
@JethroJessop
2 ай бұрын
I imagine if this is your local area you would probably tick off the full loop after a while of exploring. It seems to follow a lot of the most prominent bikable trails. There don't seem to be too many stretches that would suffer badly in the wet either so it's probably a good one to do in less than perfect weather. I imagine most of it looks quite pretty wreathed in sea mist
