When you watch real professional whitewater experts like these people clearly are just keep this in mind. They are world-class, highly skilled and finely tuned to their operating environment. Try righting a kayak in flat passive water. These people are 1st avoiding it mostly by the careful and quick selection of their "water path". They have great "whitewater reading" skills which make what they do all the more spectacular. Flipping a raft or kayak over in any of these rapids could take a human life in seconds. There is no panic and no fear with these experts. Relish what they do because they are true finely trained athletes...all of them.

A joy to see. Spectacular water flow, who needs stunts and high falls? Great wave trains, love seeing your control of the blade in the water.

Nice run! I ran this section of the Payettes at 8,200 cfs back in 93 with Paul Hoda and Conrad Fourney. Big Falls was washed except for the last drop, which was huge! Spray 50' in the air. We guessed another 2,000 and the last drop at Big Falls would have washed.

Highly skilled whitewater kayak virtuosos. Impressive water reading at high flows. It is a pleasure to watch people who have their craft so finely tuned that they and their watercraft are truly at one with the river gods.

It really is! At these flows it's basically just one large wavetrain with rapids sprinkled throughout

We were supposed to be camping at Grand Jean around this time but everyone cancelled the day of because they were scared of some rain. Lame. I wanted to see the high flow on South Fork becausw I had been checking the river stats. Love the Payette Forks!

It might sound weird but if you lick the lens of your gopro then dunk it in the river, water wont bead up on it nearly as easily. Dane shared that trick on his channel and it works pretty dang well
