That is a nice one! Amazing car, both good and bad. Friend in high school had one, a brown, yes brown one with a 427 in it. Scary as hell, only car I've ever been 140 (per speedometer) in. Made me never want to again. May be why I ride Uals now, who onows. It was the car/driver combo, to be honest. He sold it soon there after, to pay some really huge fines. He had a lot of fun with it. The guy he sold it to? He died in it, within a month after sale. Great car, but you better respect it, they bite hard!

In 1969 , the base small block was rated at 300hp. A 350hp model was optional. The air cleaner sticker appears to be from a 1970 LT-1 engine with a solid lifter cam rated at 365hp.

That body looks straight and excellent as far as panel alignment with perfect and even gaps. Regarding the C-1, C-2 designations, while the 1953 through 1962 went through body changes and engines galore they were all on a shortened 1949-1954 Chevrolet chassis/suspension. The C-2 and C-3 also share a frame and suspension and yet are two different generations of Corvettes. The C-2 is my favorite of older 'Vettes. The venerable Ed Cole small block is an engineering marvel, but I'm drunk on LS horsepower.

They still build things to last, but that only works when you buy the expensive-not-flashy kind. It also helps that the Corvette probably did not carry many kids, groceries, or dogs, and has fewer miles than a more standard car of similar age.

Nice Corvette. Yeah, the C1 Vettes had the "Stovebolt" Chevy 6, and Powerglide only, because from what I've read Chevy's 3-speed manual of that time wasn't strong enough to handle the extra power output of the tri-carb 6. Just some Corvette trivia.

more like Sheet Molded Compound (SMC) panels made up of fiberglass and a resin formed under high heat and pressure. Think of it more like early carbon fiber before carbon fiber, just not as pretty in raw form. It was all about weight savings, but the panels are really strong up to a point where it cracks vs steel that creases or warps. Plastic will crack at the slightest pressure.

Fairly certain that is not the original paint. Don't think they offered a 2-tone option in 1969. Looks like they tried to make it look like a 1978 Silver Anniversary color scheme with that. Not a huge fan of those wheels either, prefer the look of the originals. Great car overall however.

Hey Wizard, do You have snow in Kansans where You live? I am asking, as the tires on this Corvette have "M+S" noted on sides. In Europe "M+S" tires are winter tires. As "M+S" stand for Mud plus Sonw. Is it the same in US? All the best for You from Poland! PS The amazing think with this car is hove amazing it is for its times! I have a 1974 Mercedes W115 220D with 60BHP. It has a 0-60 time of two days, and a max spped of about 80 (135km/h). This Corvette would simply disappear over the horizon, before I hange the gear into 2nd in my Mercedes :DDDDD
@paulmarentette5346
4 жыл бұрын
KamilMB you are correct. M+S designation does indeed mean Mud and Snow. Radial T/A's are crap though. That designation was probably due more to tread pattern, which are lousy even in the best of seasons. Even new, the compound is way too hard for cold or wet roads. Traction, noise and ride quality are terrible. Add some age and they are the worst tires you'll ever ride on. Even a classic car will improve dramatically with modern performance (but not low profile) tires.
