This must be some older footage, he's since changed his takeback into an abbreviated one. Completely different.

Great analyse. I would like to know more about Alcaraz Toss . I recently watch Alcaraz-Tsitsipas US open r3 where Alcaraz served excellent. I was little confused because it look to me that his toss different a lot from RF or other tennisplayers. he has one of the most konsistent serves and his mindset is from another planet. His second serve is 100% bulletproof. I never seen any player like Alcaraz and I strongly Beleive he can brake all the records of Tennis 💪🎾🏆🥇🥎

Yes, he has the arm pointing towards the net post whereas Roger has it almost parallel to the baseline.

Great anaylysis! Thank you! One question: would you say that the weight the back leg (60/40) for loading position, does that ratio of weight distribution remain all the way through untill take off? Or doesthe energy spill over into the front leg right before the jump. Also, i would say some good ol sun salutions particularly with emphasis on "baby cobra" or "mini up dog" would help increase the range of motion to access the cocking position; it surprising how much felxation can be created if we just work on it. Thanks again! Love your videos.

yes, the weight distribution shifts more to the front leg after the loading phase. He says as much if you watch some of his videos on the topic

what type of serve is his first serve? Is this a topspin-slice or a flat-slice serve?

I've always wondered about what you call the "finish" stage of pro serves. It looks a lot like a pitcher's finish with the chest down and the back leg up. But pitchers end up in this position because they are trying to throw down the mound and usually into the bottom third of the strike zone, so they want to orient their chests downward over their front foot before releasing the ball. Obviously servers don't want to make contact in the corresponding position because they would hit the bottom of the net. So it's never been that obvious to me why servers end in this position and if it's really required for a good serve.

There is still a forward momentum so the leg kick and the left arm thrown back are there to keep balance.

Is his serve not so correct in terms of making his shoulder vulnerable to injury?

Could the internal shoulder rotation after contact cause shoulder rotator cuff injury?
@MeikeBabelTennis
2 жыл бұрын
Sure can, I'm an example of that. It's just a motion that we don't have in regular day life and back when I played nobody really paid much attention to preventative exercises. If you see pros now, they do a ton of stuff to protect their shoulders.

@@MeikeBabelTennis so does that mean for club players, it’s better to avoid it?

Do you recommend to turn then toss the ball?
@MeikeBabelTennis

If you stagger your feet with your right behind your left, you already have a turn. I wouldn't add another deliberate turn before tossing the ball so as to keep it simple.

The long axis rotation or pronation during deceleration isn’t an absolute for good serving. Pliskova almost never does and even Serena doesn’t at times. On the other hand Federer does it every time. Also one can step across a bit and still generate full or even more power by loading the shoulders against the more open hips. Venus, Steffi and taking it to an extreme, DeMinaur are examples of this. IMO, the drawback of the step across is not being able to get as good of placement or variety due to opening early.

Thanks for this. If you could, I’d love to see you do a similar video on Serena’s serve.
