When I want to be inspired by how well one person can do two things at one time, I watch Karen Carpenter singing and drumming. I hadn't seen this one before, I think. In any case, thanks New Sun...if I understand you correctly. Anyway, this version really hits the mark for me. The perfect Carpenters song to me is "Dancing in the Streets." I really like their covers of Beatles songs, but they were all just a bit too OTT for me to love them. This one it seemed they toned down their tendency to jazzify a tad and it's just beautiful. I had my doubts about the falsetto chorus at first, but came around to realizing it makes Karen's contralto sound even richer. I was sad to hear it end.
