I had never heard this song before. My dad was on his deathbed, after two weeks of hospice care we had a priest read him his last rites. My mom pulled up this song and said it was one of his favorites. The song reached the second chorus and Dad left this world for the next. This song will have a deep meaning forever.

ln about 1974 I had the rare opertunity to meet Richard and Karen and sing this song on stage with the rest of my 6 th. grade class doing the kids part in Hays Kansas at Gross Memorial Coliseum , I still have the newspaper article from the event in which they spelled my last name wrong , along with the medallion and photograph of Richard and Karen , when I think about this song it reminds me of my childhood and the fellow schoolmates and the awesome time we had with Richard and Karen , for the record when 20+ 6th. graders stand in front of a wall of speakers singing there ass off and what your singing is blasting out of those speakers that are 4 to 5 times taller than you and twice as wide ( this was the right side of the stage , there was a equal set on the left side ) all you can do is sing your ass off and hope its sounding great to the audience cause trust me the sound is a hell of a lot different 4 or 5 foot in front of those speakers than it is in the rest of the building . This was a magnificent experience and I Thank Richard and Karen for it.

This beautiful song of Carpenters, brings back unforgettable memories of my childhood. At that time I had eight years old, and looking at Karen filled me with a great feeling to know the great legacy she leaves in music.

Imagine The Carpenters still exist in 2017 and Karen is still alive. She still can sing a song for us.

I was 4 when this song came out and I can very clearly remember hearing it on the radio a lot back then, especially if I was in the car with my mom. I honestly thought this song was written for me. LOL And that's because when I was little I used to love to swing and sing on the swing in my backyard and my parents would say "sing us a song!' and my dad would push me on the swing to give me a little boost and then I'd start climbing high on that swing and would sing to my heart's content. So when I heard this song, I thought it was speaking to me. Ah, such innocence and such a sweet time to grow up.

Breaks my heart what happened to Karen and how it hurt her brother and her family dearly and no one seemed to understand the pain I grew up listening to her music and it's very saddening to me that this happened to Karen of all people she was an angel and still is and she lives on, she's still there and My condolences to the family and my Love to Karen, Love You Sweetheart and Great Music!

listening to this song with my mom while she’s in a kiddie pool she bought because of the heat and i’m sitting next to her. she looks so happy and she’s singing. the sun is hitting her face and she’s glowing. this is a rare sight and moment. we are always sad, angry or arguing. it’s always dark here but today is bright, yet i still feel the darkness in me. i’m trying to enjoy it but i almost can’t look at her. she’s sick and i keep worrying that one day i won’t have her here with me like this again. i hope i have more moments like this with her.i want to cry but, i’ll try to sing this song with her and enjoy it while it lasts. i hope i can for once let myself enjoy a moment.

I remember that Carpenters were on a local variety show that my sister was on and although we couldn't be there as there were 9 of us. I watched on tv and we were all astounded that my sister got up and sang this song with the Carpenters. What was even more amazing was an up and coming country folk singer was on and that was the fist time I heard Sunshine on My Shoulders by a very young John Denver! Never forget it. Wasn't 2 weeks later we were all taken. Away and put in different foster homes all over the state. We were taken away because we were malnourished and my mom was gone a lot due to the fighting. God did see us all through. Never Doubt!

It always reminds me of Christmas morning in the early 80s with the whole family. Amazing memories. To my KZitem family, you are the singers of the song. You are the dreamers of the dream. You are the makers and creators of all that is. Sing out loud, sing out strong! 😊
