The next video about old British television programmes (and the cars used therein) concerns the 1980s TVS series C.A.T.S. Eyes (normally referred to simply as CATS Eyes). This was broadcast in three seasons from 1985 to 1987 and starred Leslie Ash, Jill Gascoigne, Rosalyn Landor (first season only), Tracy- Louise Ward (second and third seasons) and Don Warrington. The basic premise is a team of all-female agents (Fred Smith, Maggie Forbes and Prunella Standfast/Tessa Robinson) working for an undercover branch of the Home Office known as C.A.T.S. (Covert Activities Thames Section), keeping the South of England safe from its enemies and overseen by a man from the Home Office called Nigel Beaumont. For the first season, their cover was a private detective agency in the Medway Towns called "Eyes", but this was dropped for the final two series without explanation...
The series had amazingly 1980s theme music composed by John Kongos (series one) and Barbara Thompson (series two and three), which is well worth looking up on KZitem. It occupies a strange position in televisual history as the paperwork relating to the rights were lost over 20 years ago, and so it is unlikely to be released on DVD. However, off-air copies of all the 30 episodes are on KZitem and are unlikely to be taken down for now, as no one can legally register a copyright claim at the moment, which is really weird!
In this video, I get obsessed with the Talbot-Matra Rancho (formerly Matra-Simca), wax lyrical about CATS Eyes' connections with The Avengers, get excited about a Mk3 Ford Granada Scorpio press car, investigate unique colours of Ford Escort RS Turbos and reveal some unique information about a certain Rover 820. This is probably why the video is far too long! Nothing untoward, then...
As an independent vehicle consultant, I take potential buyers through the whole car buying process from choosing a make and model to a vehicle handover and road tax. In addition to information on this service, I also have a selection of written and video reviews of cars that I have owned, hired, borrowed or have somehow come into my possession.
