So you did a google search and read what the associated press said and that’s it? Case closed? Thank god there’s actual attorneys who spend hundreds of hours digging through the case and don’t just say “well google says she’s guilty so she must be” 🙄
@deelowe3

@@UncleRicoOSU The only evidence that exists is evidence against her. She had tons of kids, multiple instances of DFCS getting involved, a major issue with drug abuse, she was a prostitute, the child in question had bite marks, a broken arm that had been neglected for over a week, and a major injury to it's head. Given all of this evidence, we're supposed to believe this yahoo on Rogan who can't even get the cause of death correct because he gave a sob story about her childhood? The child wasn't strangled at all. In Melissa's own words, the cause of death was the child falling down the stairs (which isn't supported by the pathology report which stated the child was struck on the head). I had a tough childhood as well. Does that mean I should be able to neglect my kids as well? The more I read up on the innocent project, the more I see stuff like this. An autopsy showed the girl had been beaten on her head and the injuries were not caused by a fall down some stairs.” Now there are issues with the prosecutors and the DA, as well as her children not being allowed to testify in the woman’s defense - so perhaps there’s an issue with the trial itself, but it’s pretty evident that she probably did it.

The first is a horribly abusing and negligent mother who allowed a critically injured child to suffer and die over the course of days in her home rather than seek medical attention, or, a murderer who allowed her victim to suffer and die under her roof rather than call medical attention which would have revealed her crime. Either way, not a woman who moves me to sympathy.

And he lies in saying that there was no evidence of the child being abused - there was LOTS of evidence; not to mention that she had suffered a broken arm weeks earlier that had never been medically seen. I have no pity for a parent that abuses their own child simply because they themselves were a victim of abuse. Life is simply a series of choices. She made horrible ones. And her child died.

One of the arms was broken 2-7 weeks before death, had teeth marks on her, had her vagina pinched, hair had been pulled out by the roots and bite marks were visible on the back. She had a total of 14 children! At the time of the case, she only had 7 of her kids living with her. The eldest 4 kids did not live with her. She was also pregnant with twins, which she had while incarcerated and she gave them up for adoption. Finally, 3 of her middle kids were born addicted to drugs, because she used drugs while pregnant. CPS had taken her children away from her on multiple occasions. All her kids were hungry and dirty. There was no food in their house! The local soup kitchen knew them well, because they would eat there daily! The coroner did an autopsy and said that the baby's injuries were the result of prolongued physical abuse

@7:59 He says he doesn't know enough about the details of the case. She admitted to abusing the child, the autopsy photos, the ones you can see show horrendous abuse of 2 year old Mariah Lucio. However, 2 year old Mariah did fall down a long set of wooden stairs that are located on the outside of the building leading to a 2nd story apartment, her family members report that she fell all the way from the top to the bottom, Melissa Lucio(mother/on death row) was not present the day 2 year old Mariah fell. The fact that she admitted to abusing 2 year old Mariah is what allowed the prosecution to go after her, nonetheless the death penalty was an over reach. If anyone fell down those steps and died two days later from a brain hemorrhage there is enough reasonable doubt to conclude that was sufficient cause for the injury that caused 2 year old Mariah's passing. A Federal Court turned over the conviction, citing "an injury cannot lead to a capital punishment.". The only argument presented by the Prosecution which argued for the death penalty but against life in prison came about because she was attacked in a woman's prison multiple times. The Prosecution used the attacks to highlight that Melissa is a 'disruption', therefore she should be executed. Melissa Lucio's been in prison for over 15+ years, if she's been a model prisoner that should negate the Prosecution's argument against life in prison. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yYRoyXuNgIFqa2k The stairway 2 year old Mariah fell down kzitem.info/news/bejne/0md3mqhnbIGQfKQ Confession with autopsy pics inside of video

This case is a DUMPSTER FIRE. This was a poor family, 9 or more kids in a 1-bedroom apartment, she was addicted to drugs, possibly sexually abused herself as a child, and an abusive husband. I'm not sure of this woman's mental state, but I'd stay there was a high probability she snapped. The kids had previously been removed from the home, due to neglect. The autopsy showed the little girl had a broken untreated arm. There were also bites and bruises allover her. Also marks from pinching on her vagina. (I'm not sure how you can tell them are pinch marks) I agree that this woman should not have been allowed to have all these kids in those conditions. The only questionable thing is the 5-hour interrogation after losing her child. I think she already had a retrial based off that. Same result. NOW, she says that one of the daughters was the one that was abusing the younger one that died. IDK if I believe her, but there are 9 potential witnesses that could confirm what happened. I don't which is more believable a mother beating and killing her child or a sister doing that to her younger sister. Which is worse? With a dozen people living in on apartment like that, either one could have snapped.

That being said, I am not convinced of her innocence and I'm not sure how the Innocence Project could get behind her. This little girl was severly beaten, and if not by the mother, then who? The mother has implied that it was her own daughter and that she confessed simply to cover for her daughter. I call bullshit. And if, a huge resounding IF that is true, if she knew her jealous older child was abusing her little one, why didn't she protect her? From what I could find, the little girl had only just come home from foster care and the mother was angry that she didn't "know" her anymore. One of the children said the little girl was afraid of her mother. Shortly after being released back into her care she would end up dead. I believe in standing for the innocent too. "bite marks" raises a big red flag for me. Biting is something that one tends to do when they are so overpowered they dont see any other means of inflicting damage. Typically biting is done by children toward adults, or each other not by adults toward children excepting the whole 'bite them back' means of teaching a child that biting hurts when/if they go through a biting phase. (note you arent supposed to bite hard) at any rate. this strikes me as sus. why would she bite a child? of all means of inflicting damage, why biting? its not the easiest thing to do by far, we arent even anatomically configured for ease of biting things. Seems far more likely to me one of the other children inflicted these particular wounds.

Trying to get innocent people off of death row or get their verdicts and sentences thrown out is a noble endeavor. However, the news that i found on this case suggests that this woman is probably guilty. Its not noble or just to get a murdering child abuser out of prison. This is disgusting. Read the actual details from the case. READ HER DEFENSE'S APPEAL. Absolutely disgusting. The lacerations made by teeth on the child's back - The fact that she admitted (without coercion) to biting her on more than one occasion for no reason. The mutilation of the child's genitals. The BROKEN ARM the child had weeks before her murder. The child's hair had been pulled out from the roots. The argument her lawyer tried making was that there is evidence of abuse, but no evidence she killed her child: [DEFENSE]: Now, in the opening remarks that we made in the beginning of the trial after you were all seated here, I told you my client is not up for “Mother Of The Year.” I told you that my client is guilty of injury to a child. She is and she has admitted that. The question here before you is whether or not on February 17, 2007, Melissa Lucio intentionally and knowingly killed Mariah Alvarez. That’s the issue. That’s the issue. Not whether she beat her. Not whether she broke her arm. Not whether she’s a lousy mother or didn’t provide for her children. That’s not an issue. The issue is whether or not she killed Mariah on the 17th of February, 2007. Joe Rogan should be ashamed for entertaining this uninformed idiot trying to make a case for someone's innocence when he knows nothing about the case. This woman only had this child in her possession for 88 days. Maybe they can't prove they killed her, but by her own admission and her lawyer's admission, she abused her child and this alone should indicate that she should not be in society. Fucking disgusting how anyone would entertain this. The innocence Project has lost all credibility on this one - just more lawyers trying to pervert our court system.

I think he had a point when he said a person that suffered that would not be able to stand up to authority.

The innocence project will blow up in everyone’s face. Idk about Melissa’s case but IP has defended some horrible people.

I was literally about to sign a petition to stop the execution after seeing her case on Kim Kardashians FB page and Kim advocating for this lady. For some reason the petition wasn't accepting my phone number, thank God it didn't. I decided to look into it, and I've read that they found the child with disturbing signs of abuse on her body, including a broken arm that hadn't been treated. They said it is the worst case of abuse they had seen. Injuries like that don't happen unless you are really knocking the child about. Also why did she leave her child with an untreated broken arm? This makes me sick to my stomach, I have a 2 Yr old and I can't even think about ever hurting him. I will be celebrating her execution. No more than she deserves.

It’s crazy people would take the advice of a celebrity without doing their own research. There are so many of you out there it makes me sad. Maybe educate yourself before signing a petition to free an obviously guilty women. Fuck celebrities.
