Cardinal Sarah who attended the beatification ceremony said that this is a great opportunity to stand up for and highlight the sanctity and the key importance of family life and of the traditional family to creating a just and loving world.

This is the story of just one family. THERE WERE MANY MORE. In Western Europe, the Germans did not punish people in this way for helping Jews in hiding. The question remains how countries such as France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway punished traitors who informed and sent Jews to extermination camps?

Ulma family Polish: Rodzina Ulmów Józef and Wiktoria Ulma with Seven Children Polish: Józef i Wiktoria Ulmowie z siedmiorgiem dzieci They were a Polish Catholic husband and wife in Markowa, Poland, during the Nazi German occupation in World War II - who attempted to rescue Polish Jewish families by hiding them in their own home during the Holocaust. They and their children were summarily executed on 24 March 1944 for doing so.

SuperGreat . . , Do we ever hear by documentary of Jews being sheltered by the self sacrifice of Christians ? When we hear of the holocaust from media commentators - it’s all about Jews persecuted by Nazis. There is never a mention of the sacrifice by others. It’s as if the Jews were isolated and no one came to their help - there’s more to the narrative than the BBC would like us to know.

For me, this issue is not as clear-cut as it is for most viewers. The couple died because they decided to help Jews and save people in need. They behaved beautifully and with dignity, saving human lives. However, they knew very well what the punishment would be for this act of mercy. If they decided, as adults, on their own behalf, the matter would be simple, because every person has the right and sometimes even a moral obligation to perform heroic deeds - but here the situation is completely different. Mr. and Mrs. Ulma decided to risk their children's lives, and yet their first duty as parents was to protect the life and health of their offspring! They were the ones who decided to take the risk, to behave humanely, but at the conscious risk of exposing their children to death. Regardless of how we approach the matter, it is worth noting that Mr. and Mrs. Ulma died defending not only their neighbors, but also their values. What did the children die for? They died for the values their parents believed in. And not even "for" these values, but simply because they were their parents' children. There is no question that they chose their fate themselves - their parents decided for them, or perhaps in a more strict sense, the German torturers made this choice. The children did not die for faith, for mercy, for other people. They were killed because they were their parents' children. They couldn't agree or disagree with what their parents decided. They had no say in values, lives, or whether they were willing to risk their lives. It is even more grotesque in the case of an unborn child. It did not die for faith, or defending some virtue or other people's lives. It died because it was its mother's child, because it was in this place at this time. If these little ones were given a voice, some of them would perhaps protest and point out their own right to life and perhaps make completely different choices than their parents. It cannot be said that any of the children were aware of the seriousness of the situation and willingly agreed to give their lives for the lives of others and for the values of their mother and father. We can even ask whether parents had the right - being aware of the possible consequences - to endanger the lives of their children? Was it this heroism? I don't think any of us can answer this question well, although this approach raises some doubts in me. If I were a mother and I knew that my decision could result in the death of my children, I would really hesitate. Maybe I would be a coward, I don't know... One more thing, I don't want to be misunderstood, so I emphasize that the greatest and sole responsibility for the death of the Ulma family is, of course, not the Ulmas themselves, but the Germans and their inhuman laws, inhuman behavior and lack of any morality. Killing innocent people because of their nationality is a crime. Killing people for helping other, persecuted people is pure evil, and murdering small children shows the complete savagery of German criminals. The Ulma family is an example of Poles suffering under inhumane German Nazi regime

In the same village, even after the terrible massacre of the Ulm family, other Jewish families were still hidden in houses and barns. This shows heroism of Poles and faith in God's grace.

Marta, the family’s martyrdom could be compared to the children of Bethlehem who were slaughtered by King Herod , in an attempt to kill the Infant King. Everyone of Rachel’s children are in Heaven - those male boys who were two years old and under - are in Heaven, Baptised by their martyrdom in place of Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ ALWAYS rewards those who suffer for Him. Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ from whom all good things come. Thank you Jesus for the ULMA family. Let us pray for today’s children and adults who are addicted to distraction by electronic smart devices, and who need to find the peace of Christ. Social media cheapens life , and for many - causes mental illness. Ditch the Smart Phone. Could you live without it ?

@@Randolph1233 I find it somehow repulsive to say that children who had no choice and even weren't aware of the danger and the values and sacrifices are martyrs whatsover. They are victims, of course, but where is no conscious will, there is no martyrdom. They were innocent victims of barbarian German Nazi regime and victims of barbarian German soldiers...

At 3:20 the mention of ‘gender’ is a false flag- the biographer gives the impression that gender depravity in Ulma’s day was an issue as it is now, a cause worth defending. Key words ‘. . . . regardless of gender or education’..

it is not true that the unborn child was beatified. it was assumed that the child was alive - as a result of stress, the mother went into labor, so de facto - the child was considered born.

It was God's permissive will, not His perfect will. God allows the free will of every person. Some freely choose good, some choose evil. Only when each of us is judged by God at our entry into eternal life will we experience the justice of heaven or hell.
