@@Ashnesss From a man named Steve Griffin from reddit What caused Hewlett Packard downfall? Business people caused its downfall. I strongly believe that MBA graduates are not innovators by nature. They are qualified to run companies, not to project their visions for the future of technology onto the company and demand all get behind that vision! Bill and Dave were great innovators, by contrast Mark Hurd was / is a great cost cutter. Business people should not run companies who's life blood comes from innovation. Founders are usually engineers by trade and have a vision. They do it for the vision not the money. Shareholder return is not the reason they run the company. In HP you had so many empires and board member agendas that nobody could establish the true vision for HP. So, why not buy companies with 'vision'. Only thing was that the board was too incompetent to buy well and had practically zero appreciation for integrating companies. Plam, EDS, Autonomy are just a few. I think these companies alone resulted in $18 Billion of write offs. I worked for HP for 3 years. I felt proud to join and glad to leave

I can say most companies only say these things and they've become a cliche but trust me amd lives upto these virtues. And that is why the company is doing great. There are a few issues as well, it's not a perfect place however, the issues are related to ecosystem development, the company does not pay much attention to software, that is where it is not able to unlock the full capabilities of it's hardware, amd hardware is actually superior to Nvidia and Intel where it lacks is the software to utilize the full extent of the hardware capabilities. Also with regards to people, most of thr times people here are more capable and competent then their skills ars put to use, you can't be unconventional here, it's a very conservative environment too. Though Lisa is a good CEO, it's crazy to connect the 100x to her alone, in the same period nVidia more than 500xed in stock price, the reason is AI, Crypto and other computing that requires lots of powerful GPUs to operate started to emerge and spiking the demand for powerful GPUs and lots of them. People couldn't even get PS5s for a whole year almost because the Crypto folks were buying up all the GPUs they could get their hands on that even SONY couldn't get AMD to deliver to them. That's also why Intel is scrambling to get into the GPU game now, they've realised that if they don't they're just gonna get smoked by AMD and nVidia. Any CEO would've 100xed AMD, it was a matter of the circumstances, not anything particular that she did to cause it, doesn't mean she's a bad CEO, far from it, but it's very easy to end up overrating her MASSIVELY if you judge her on her accomplishments at AMD alone. With the massive demand for GPUs and only two companies providing them, it would've been hard NOT to 100x one of them

@@nothing9220 That i didn't get into that stuff in 2008? Absolutely 😂 But regarding Lisa it's just to make a point that the things she's being praised on would've happened without her anyway as they were a natural consequence of how the global tech market evolved towards unprecedented GPU demand. (again NVIDIA stock was $4 10 years ago and it's over $700 today a financial feat that puts AMDs to shame, but again it's due to the way the market shifted, not anything special that Jensen did.) Again she's not a bad CEO by any means, but to treat her as some kind of trailblazing legendary CEO for what happened with AMD is silly as it would've happened regardless of whomever the AMD CEO was.

Overrated and overpaid. amd hasn't done well the last 800 plus days. Sold chips during covid and a chip shortage. Weak quarter coming up.

@@liquidsnake6879That may be true. But if she had decided AMD was on its way to death and just waited for/watched that to happen, directed AMD in different strategic directions, bred a bad work culture etc., there wouldn't be an AMD like today's.
