I am not a Muslim, though I have studied Islam, I cannot speak for Mormonism as I have not studied its theology that much, but from my understanding salvation as it is understood within christianity does not apply to Islam as within Islam there is no belief in the innate depravity of man, one achieves jannah (paradise) only through the complete submission to god, abandoning all false idols, and living in accordance with that which is halal (permitted by god). In regards to polygamy within Islam, I am not declaring any moral judgement upon it simply stating context, it is a result of the polygamy of pre-islamic arabia, and in fact limited the polygamy of its time. Islam would not state that an angel gave Muhammad a true book from heaven, but that the angel Gabriel spoke the word of god to Muhammad, which he would recite for scribes to write down, through a period 23 years of revelation. The wives in not stated within the Quran, though there are mistranslations, and it regarded by muslims in a variety of ways.

I stopped going when I was about 17. I don't recall the last time I went (I'm 37 now). Luckily I wasn't abused or anything like that, but something had definitely happened to my older sister and I don't know what. She was all about the church until she was about 24-25. Then she stopped going, and lived a normal life. Anytime the church would get brought up in conversation she would change the topic and visually be uncomfortable. Unfortunately my sister passed recently due to cancer, but one of the things she told her husband was that she didn't want the church doing anything at her grave or funeral or anything. I'm going down the rabbit hole now, as I hadn't really thought of anything church related and I'm getting more and more angry at myself and my family who brought me into that life for being so susceptible to these blatant made up things. I'm hoping to find some kind of peace in this educational journey because I never found peace in that church. @Hale Hafa I'm curious as to what your thinking is on "I have a sure witness that this gospel is of God." Do you mean your testimony? I question this because a few years back I had a friend (not a member of any religion---she questioned all of them and thought they were all "bogus") who was approached by Muslims. They challenged her to read the Koran (Qu'ran) and pray and ask God if Islam was true after reading it. She did and she said God "absolutely" spoke to her heart that it was true and she converted. She is a very devout Muslim to this day. At one time I also had a neighbor who was a Pentecostal. (and somewhat obnoxious about it---I got tired of hearing it)! The Jehovah's Witnesses came to her house and challenged her to read the Watchtower literature and pray about whether it was God's organization on Earth. She told them she was absolutely convinced that the JW's were a "cult" and she refused to accept their literature. Her "hope" however was to convert THEM. For whatever reason they kept coming back to her house to talk (she was a very nice person) and eventually she said there was "absolutely" a convincing testimony from God telling her she needed to convert and become a Jehovah's Witness. (Then I had to hear all about her conversion experience over and over!) I was glad we moved! LOL My point is that many adherents to many different religions on this planet get a "testimony" of the truth of their beliefs and a "supernatural" knowledge that "IT " is the true church. They can't all be correct, can they? So how do you believe they "know" this???

Well, the tree of knowledge, was the first warning, to partake of the fruit was the cause of after, so as on schedule, many will stray and it's for the same reasons, but this time it's the cloud of knowledge. Ironically it just so happens to partake of the Apple iPhone or Computer. Is that a coincidence, the internet has caused this spit spurt of Athism, Flat Earthers and now those against the churches, more so, the LDS. Now able to see the second coming of Christ. There was a time when the old timers were told, we'd be able to see things at the same time over the entire earth. Wasn't possible, but they held their faith and here we are, it's possible now. They said, we'd be hearing Trumpets, are we? Trump/Pence. A bloodless brain of deception, it's what the internet is, it has so many truths, but out weighed by false notions about the truths. That money the LDS does not spend, is not for now, it's for that moment that's to come and everybody knows what that is. I would not want want that money being spent niether, it's too much of a resk, Prophet Monson took none of it, but yet made sure it's still accumulating, not for him, but for survivers. Like they said then, " don't believe everything you see on TV, "☝ that goes for the internet aswell. Every decade had its tribulations, everyone was worst than the other, Now we're experiencing not a century's tribulation nor a decade's, but a millennium 's, as on schedule, people still don't understand, we're witnessing tribulation, look at the news, or is it just fantasy?

Do you believe, as we are told in Deuteronomy, that there is no god but God, nay not one? Or do you believe you must complete the ordinances and that you may also be a god someday? Was also a CES (or S&I) employee for 26 years. I'm aware of the points raised in the CES letter and completely agree with his analysis. I, too, left my employment and the church after learning of several inconsistencies in the church's claims when we were tasked to look at how to respond to criticisms against the church. Major issues were: the DNA study that determined the origin of the native American Indians; Joseph Smith's philandering which he got away with by instituting "plural marriage" but the worst part of it was his marrying the wives of other men, some of whom were faithful elders sent on missions overseas, all against the guidelines issued in D&C 132 and nowhere like the plural marriages of Old Testament prophets cited as justification for the practice; origin of the temple signs, tokens, symbols, and attire; Wilford Woodruff's explanation for the 1890 Manifesto which basically admitted the government's authority over God; and the bogus translation of the Book of Abraham; to name just a few. You only need one false claim to destroy the Church's claim of divine sanction. But to have so many makes it pretty obvious.

So, you are a pervert and take pride in your actions that God himself has condemned in no uncertain terms in both the Old and New Testaments - way before the Church ever existed. Very sad. Were you molested by a male when you were a child? How much pornography did you consume? At what age did you start? I have a good friend that is a therapist. She said that in treating over 3000 cases over the last 20+ years she has not met one homosexual that was either 1) not molested as a child or 2) did not consume pornography. If you were molested, get help. It's out there and the damage can be reversed. If you brought this on yourself by consuming porn, get help. This is only slightly different than guys who view straight porn and find it impossible to be monogamous. Their lack of chastity and self control can be addressed in therapy. Your lack of chastity and self control can likewise be addressed. To be ok settling with the Telestial Kingdom should not be ok. You deserve better than that. Good luck overcoming your challenges.

Jesus Christ abolished death. 2 Timothy 1:10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, The true and living God who created you wants you to have everlasting joy. He created you to have a love relationship with Him. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and with all thine soul and with all thy mind." The greatest thing in life is to know God. Jeremiah 9:23 Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord. Worse still, there is nothing you can do to merit everlasting life. You cannot bribe God. Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. The good news, the gospel, is that God is rich in mercy. God made a way for you to be reconciled to God, by the death of His Son. Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh, humbled himself, shed his blood, died and rose again. He paid the penalty for all your sins when He died on the cross. In the mid 70's Morman missionaries came to my home. They were using a book to tell about LDS founding. They turned to a page where a lightning bolt came down and blackened a man's skin. This they said was why Black people could not hold the priesthood. They explained they were marked with the sin of Cain. I will NEVER forget that. I said, "Wait a minute. This is not the God I know. " Some years later I read the NAACP went after them. Followed by their "prophet " receiving divine prophecy to allow them into the priesthood. They stopped polygamy when the US president said they would come in and shut them down. Just like the sin of Cain, the prophet at the time received a divine message to end polygamy. End of polygamy came before the end of the sin of Cain. There are so many other things to point out. I know it must be very difficult to be brought up believing this made up religion. There are good religions with bad people and bad religions with good people. When you can't ask questions that's a big red flag. Seek the faith that brings you closest to Christ.

Good video Jessie. Fun fact. Jessie was “my new name” that the Mormons gave me in the temple. I went on a Mormon mission to the Bible Belt. What u did by sharing these highlights kept any Mormons watching instead of just rolling their eyes. God job. U also seem really knowledgeable about Mormonism. Good job doing good research. Since losing my faith I’ve become an agnostic. I can’t bring myself to believe that an all powerful being, capable of anything, made a plan that required his son to be tortured and die. And then for only a minority of his children to return to live with him. I can’t believe that a Jewish person who is an amazing human will go to hell cuz they don’t believe in Christ but a horrible person who says a prayer and “accepts Christ” goes to heaven. Sorry. If there is a god. And that’s his plan. I can’t worship that god. Ironically you’d say that god is good and all loving. But any parent who does something like this you’d also say is a horrible parent. I just can’t. If it’s bad for me to do that to my kids I can’t worship a god that does that.

Some persons never hear of Christ. Others are prejudiced against Christianity because of the bad example given by Christians, and because of this "invincible prejudice" they never accept Christianity. Nevertheless, if they hold themselves to moral conduct, repent when they slip, and believe in a just God, God will take them into heaven. I was taught this in a Catholic high school in the late 1950s--and also, of course, that God prefers everyone to be Catholic though he isn't a hardass about it. Much more humane than some evangelical doctrine. I left Catholicism because of disagreements on other matters.

The biggest lie from LDS is that the Book of Mormon is true but it is not... If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why does LDS teach that Heavenly Father and Mary conceived Jesus to be the literal Son of God when Alma 7:10 says it was the Holy Spirit just like the Bible does in Luke 1:35 and Matthew 1:18 If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why does LDS teach that Heavenly Father is progressing which means changing and improving when Moroni 8:18 states that He is unchangeable? If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why does LDS teach multiple gods must exist when Alma 11:28-29 says there is only ONE God just like the Bible does in Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 44:6-8 and Isaiah 45:5? If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why does D&C 42:18 say that murder can't be forgiven when 3 Nephi 30:2 says that it can? If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why does D&C 130:3 says that God can't dwell in the hearts of men but Alma 34:36 says the He can? If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why is there no mention of a restoration of the church when the Bible says in Matthew 16:18 that His Church (Jesus') will never be destroyed by any power not even the gates of hell with a solemn promise? Do Mormons think that Jesus lied to Peter? Don't we read in 1 Peter 1:25 the Word of the Lord, the very gospel that was preached, will endure for ever? Does that verse lie? If the Book of Mormon is true, ........why don't Mormons believe in the Trinity when reading 2 Nephi 11:7 which explains that Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity and our Creator, not our elder brother. Other verified verses of the Trinity include Mosiah 15 :3, 2 Nephi 31:21 and 3 Nephi 11:27 If the Book of Mormon is true, ........then if LDS is the "only true church" how did so many splinter groups get created also based on the BoM? --- Community of Christ (RLDS) --- The Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite) --- Church of Jesus Christ with the Elijah Message --- Apostolic United Brethren --- Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints --- Restoration Branches --- Church of Christ (Hedrickites) --- Fellowships of the Remnant --- Church of Christ (Fettingite) --- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Strangite) --- Church of Jesus Christ (Cutlerite) If the Book of Mormon is true, why does LDS ignore what it teaches? _I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of His spiritual church because Christ does not dwell in man-made buildings_ (Acts 17:24)_ (Acts 17:24)

@@itsmejessie Here is something I tell Mormons all the time to disprove their idea about becoming a "god". Through the Holy Spirit, the Bible contains a very powerful statement: _"Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; _*_I know not any._*_ "_ -- Isaiah 44:8 Very powerful statement by GOD … I KNOW NOT ANY … NOT ANY! Does GOD have amnesia, Alzheimer's or dementia that He doesn't KNOW of any other REAL god??? None at all? This is obviously not about idols since everyone, even we humans know about idols. They are all over the OLD Testament also. Let's try another verse in Isaiah: _"there is no God beside me"_ -- Isaiah 45:5 No other god? Not one? Some Mormons believe Heavenly Father also had a father but the Bible says for CERTAIN that He _never_ did as GOD would obviously know His Father, who would also be a GOD, would he not??? Yet how could GOD not know His own father if we read I KNOW NOT ANY? Our Heavenly Father who loves us so much, who can count all the hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30) and we are more precious than the birds of the sky (Matthew 6:26) … how can He not know if _any_ of His children were exalted to be a god also? A father here on earth would be so proud to know their children achieved so much, and yet … He said, I KNOW NOT ANY … NOT ANY! If we accept the Word of GOD as the perfect way our Heavenly Father can reveal to us His thoughts, commandments and insights into our future, how can we ignore a verse that tells us that our GOD … doesn't know of any god but accept the idea from Mormonism that men are becoming a god? There is a contradiction that is can only be resolved in one way only … that LDS is a deceptive organization and Joseph Smith was a false prophet.

It was a good experience and I won't say I was disappointed having been through it, but glad I was able to step outside the box and see it for what it was. I also have invested a great amount of time learning about _Jehovah's Witnesses_ and _Scientology_ as well as _Christian Science_ and _Unitarianism._ Christian Science is fascinating and I can see how people can easily find themselves engulfed into that cult as easily. _Mormonism_ is perhaps the most fun to study because none of the other cults rely on the individual idolization of a man who was an adulterer, polyandry abuser, child molester, convicted criminal and sorcerer who looked at stones in a hat as a lie for finding lost treasures in the exact same way as writing a fictional book while claiming it was from GOD.

@@itsmejessie let me know how you would like some help or if you have an outline or would like me to provide you other information. I have been talking to Mormons for about 3 years now and trying to find ways to deflect their excuses or avoiding those areas that I know they can easily provide excuses (for example, I never bring up the concept that the BoM talks about Jesus being born AT Jerusalem as they find creative excuses about that error) I also try to stay away from little nitpicky ideas that make no sense in the BoM as they are often excused by "inconclusive" or not enough information to be determined. Instead, using the Bible with current beliefs and doctrines seems to be the best way to provide evidence of a contradiction. Once the contradiction is exposed, this causes problems unless a valid FACT can validate the reason. Usually, these so-called "facts" by the Mormons often will contradict other parts of the Bible or other Mormon history. @@paulplumb6360 the LDS church's prophecies change like the wind. Does God ever change? No. So then the prophets must be false prophets and the doctrine not true. Also, the concept of salvation...LDS scripture and doctrine teach that you are saved by grace "after all you have done". So then you only receive saving grace by works. Except You can't earn your salvation by works. Biblical scripture is clear on that. If you believe the Bible to be true (as LDS members say they do), then you can't also believe Mormon scriptures. I am a Catholic believer with a good friend who is also LDS. We have had several pointed discussions about the historicity of the Book of Mormon. My friend Marty (an elder and a holder of the Melchizedek priesthood in the LDS Church) rejects the broad scientific consensus of the Smithsonian Institute that the alleged history of the Book of Mormon is not compatible with the archeological evidence of Meso-America. I have suggested that Mormons and ex-Mormons find another option. The fact is that Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price are all part of what we call “Americana.” That is, they are part of American culture and literary history. It is obvious that the Book of Mormon was composed and not translated. It falls under the category of “religious fiction.” In that sense, it has value to Americans as part of our literary culture. Joseph Smith could be considered an American fiction writer who turned his work into an organized religion. Very uniquely American to say the least… and certainly no mean feat! 😊😊😊

@@MrArtist7777 I politely disagree. When I had tough questions, my church leaders made sure to let me know I was engaging in dangerous behavior (seeking truth) and they didn't have answers to the questions I had. Also, emotions/feelings (i.e. praying to God) are not a reliable method to establish truth. Analysis of historical evidence such as court records, journals, and other primary documents reveal much more about what actually happened than praying for an answer will. For example, this is one of my questions. Why was Emma the 23rd woman to be sealed to Joseph Smith? After all, I had been raised my whole life in the church; primary, sunday school, seminary, mission. I knew so much Mormon history, right? Emma was Joseph's first and only wife, right? So I expected her to be the only one. But why was she the 23rd? My Bishop and SP said the answer wasn't pertinent to my salvation. Other members didn't even know Joseph Smith was a polygamist (polygyny and polyandry) and said I was mistaken. Praying, of course, didn't give me an answer. So I had to study the actual history. I found out about all of Joseph Smith's prior intimate encounters with women and it all made sense now. To maintain the illusion of a prophet, he needed people to think he was righteous, so the women needed to be sworn to secrecy. What a better way than creating a new ordinance called "celestial marriage," which was too "holy" for the women to talk about? Even to each other? For example, the Partridge Sisters were both married to Joseph independently of each other. Also, when Joseph got Emma to finally give in, she picked the Partridge sisters. He was "sealed" to them AGAIN at a later date because Emma didn't know about the first sealings, which he kept secret from her. So basically he used sealings as a way to amass wives and keep them silent. If it really had anything to do with love and eternal families, he would have gotten sealed to Emma first and foremost. But that's not what happened. And no one at church is going to admit to you that this is the reason. I can go on and on.

@@garrettrichards5559 Thanks for your reply, Garrett. Give me the names of who told you not to research church history, I'll chew 'em out! :) Yeah, not sure why anyone would say to not research church, Bible or any history as you can learn a lot, however, being an historian myself and having thoroughly research church history, I can honestly say, there has been a tremendous amount written about church history that is not accurate, comes only from opinion and speculation or is purposefully intended to lie about our church history and characters. And some church history we just don't understand as the records are either too scant and not given enough detail. It can be difficult to find what's actually true, especially since we don't have the characters here to testify themselves. Regarding the Partridge sisters and Emma, we know from scant records that Emma was opposed to plural marriage, of any kind, when Joseph first talked about it and began to act upon it, however, we don't have any records of who was sealed to Joseph Smith nor exact dates. That may sound like a cop out but, it's true, we can speculate but, we don't know exactly who was married or sealed to Joseph Smith and when, other than Joseph and Emma's civil marriage, which we have court records of. We have journal entries and notes after the events and many of them, long after the events of temple sealings, but we have no Nauvoo temple records of Joseph Smith's marriages. We know, from personal testimony, of several of the spiritual wives of Joseph Smith, in the church vs. Fed. Gov't on plural marriage, which my own great-great grandfather, George Reynolds, represented the church at, that several of these women Joseph had been sealed and married to, in the Nauvoo temple, had sexual relations with him, all who had not been civilly married to another man or where underage (under 18). Who was sealed to Joseph when, is speculation as we just don't know. We have various records which often contradict each other or are unsubstantiated. Either way, we know that Joseph Smith taught plural marriage by way of commandment from God but have little details of how it was carried out, until the 1850's Utah period, when it became public. Likewise, we have no details exactly why Abraham, the ancient prophet, killed innocent people, why he practiced polygamy, why Moses killed a man, practiced polygamy and ordered the genocidal killing of thousands of innocent people to steal their lands. There's A LOT of scant historical accounts we just don't know all of the details of, which is why I suggested to pray for the answers. Sure, you can research but as an old college professor once told me, history is just that; his story, meaning, the story someone tells, which may become an historical account is the story or one person that's likely biased to fit their narrative. I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, just like Peter, Isaiah, Moses and the others listed in the Bible and I believe he did the best he could with what he knew and that we know only some of what he knew. I spent years not active in the church, attending other churches and studying many other religions and philosophies and couldn't give a tiny rat's butt about the church, however, I had a friend rail agains the church one day and it's leaders, which I thought was unfair and flat-out wrong, as I knew he was lying. I decided to read the Book of Mormon, as an adult, which I had never done and never cared to, and prayed to know if it was true or just a hoax, like my friend said it was and I got a powerful answer, an audible one, that it was true and that the church was true. Not what I had expected. I was bothered by some of the church history, especially polygamy and banning the priesthood to some so I began researching, over 30 years ago, traveling to: New York, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois and Salt Lake City, where I wasn't from, to church sites, church records and critical books. I found as I mentioned earlier, there is scant records or no records of some of the things I was researching but a TON of opinions from others. I found the only source of real truth is from God and have faith that I'll learn everything I need, some day. I know that the church and its leaders have done a tremendous amount of good in the world, have fed and clothed millions of people, have taught good principles and have done their level best to help others and do their best. Neither Joseph Smith nor any other church leader is perfect and neither am I but they have done their very best and are guided by God. Kind of like rolling a car tire down a street, it will get off track, wobble a bit, nearly tip over at times but eventually, gets to the right destination with good guidance. Please read the scriptures, keep researching and don't forget to pray! God bless

I would teach people that this talked about the three kingdoms of glory but celestial and terrestrial mean heavenly and earthy in spanish and the third telestial is meaningless. I tried reasoning what this meant in my head to no avail. Also why would the second kingdom be called earthly and not the third. Lastly this ones pretty funny in the KJV the word mammon is used which means riches and its used in 3 Nephi 13:24 directly copied from the kjv, however, in the spanish Book of Mormon its spelt mamon which means idiot. If Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from Egyptian why didn't he use the word riches instead of mammon.

We do not die to get to the celestial kingdom it's lives in us just like all 3 degrees we decide if we make it to the celestial kingdom in this life and get to live in Christ presence or not. Christ said follow me. His Gospel is true and we get to the celestial kingdom by putting into actions his gospel which is a life style and not a religion. We choose where we go in this life.

This art was predicted by both Daniel and Isaiah and interestingly 'hidden in plain sight' as you see it at the precise LINE OF SIGHT and at the exact TIME OF DAY when the sun's shadows reveal the vivid art. Joseph Smith was so fully familiar with the King James it would easily figure that he would utilize what he was familiar with over changing what he already believed to be the sacred word of God. @borrowed tomb Yet the Bible is the very foundation of Christianity, and with little to no evidence of it's core claims such as, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That creates a problem for those who proclaim the Bible as a divine or holy book, Or Christianity as the one true religion. Bart Ehrman absolutely differs from others, that's why he debates people such as James White on the issue of specifically the New Testament and Jesus. He also debates people such as William Lane Craig. Your comment and my reply was a digression from the original purpose of my comment. Jessie spends alot of time criticising Mormonism as a false religion, My comments are a reminder to examine your own belief system for errors and false information in an unbiased manner. Your comment was placed in the area of the historical evidence of the new testament, this has absolutely no bearing on the divine claims made within that book. Therefore many Christians are in the same position as anyone else when it comes to faith claims, It's blind. In conclusion I think it's completely hypocritical of anyone in a religious group or philosophy to criticise the other for falsehood.

@@TheChrishendrix “The evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is so overwhelming that it compels acceptance by proof which leaves absolutely no room for doubt.” The First Line of Evidence for Christ's resurrection To begin with, we have demonstrably sincere eyewitness testimony. Early Christian apologists cited hundreds of eyewitnesses, some of whom documented their own alleged experiences. Many of these eyewitnesses willfully and resolutely endured prolonged torture and death rather than repudiate their testimony. This fact attests to their sincerity, ruling out deception on their part. According to the historical record (The Book of Acts 4:1-17; Pliny’s Letters to Trajan X, 97, etc) most Christians could end their suffering simply by renouncing the faith. Instead, it seems that most opted to endure the suffering and proclaim Christ’s resurrection unto death. Granted, while martyrdom is remarkable, it is not necessarily compelling. It does not validate a belief so much as it authenticates a believer (by demonstrating his or her sincerity in a tangible way). What makes the earliest Christian martyrs remarkable is that they knew whether or not what they were professing was true. They either saw Jesus Christ alive-and-well after His death or they did not. This is extraordinary. If it was all just a lie, why would so many perpetuate it given their circumstances? Why would they all knowingly cling to such an unprofitable lie in the face of persecution, imprisonment, torture, and death? While the September 11, 2001, suicide hijackers undoubtedly believed what they professed (as evidenced by their willingness to die for it), they could not and did not know if it was true. They put their faith in traditions passed down to them over many generations. In contrast, the early Christian martyrs were the first generation. Either they saw what they claimed to see, or they did not. Among the most illustrious of the professed eyewitnesses were the Apostles. They collectively underwent an undeniable change following the alleged post-resurrection appearances of Christ. Immediately following His crucifixion, they hid in fear for their lives. Following the resurrection they took to the streets, boldly proclaiming the resurrection despite intensifying persecution. What accounts for their sudden and dramatic change? It certainly was not financial gain. The Apostles gave up everything they had to preach the resurrection, including their lives. The Second Line of Evidence for Christ's resurrection A second line of evidence concerns the conversion of certain key skeptics, most notably Paul and James. Paul was of his own admission a violent persecutor of the early Church. After what he described as an encounter with the resurrected Christ, Paul underwent an immediate and drastic change from a vicious persecutor of the Church to one of its most prolific and selfless defenders. Like many early Christians, Paul suffered impoverishment, persecution, beatings, imprisonment, and execution for his steadfast commitment to Christ’s resurrection. James was skeptical, though not as hostile as Paul. A purported post-resurrection encounter with Christ turned him into an inimitable believer, a leader of the Church in Jerusalem. We still have what scholars generally accept to be one of his letters to the early Church. Like Paul, James willingly suffered and died for his testimony, a fact which attests to the sincerity of his belief (see The Book of Acts and Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews XX, ix, 1). The Third and Fourth Lines of Evidence for Christ's resurrection A third line and fourth line of evidence concern enemy attestation to the empty tomb and the fact that faith in the resurrection took root in Jerusalem. Jesus was publicly executed and buried in Jerusalem. It would have been impossible for faith in His resurrection to take root in Jerusalem while His body was still in the tomb where the Sanhedrin could exhume it, put it on public display, and thereby expose the hoax. Instead, the Sanhedrin accused the disciples of stealing the body, apparently in an effort to explain its disappearance (and therefore an empty tomb). How do we explain the fact of the empty tomb? Here are the three most common explanations: First, the disciples stole the body. If this were the case, they would have known the resurrection was a hoax. They would not therefore have been so willing to suffer and die for it. (See the first line of evidence concerning demonstrably sincere eyewitness testimony.) All of the professed eyewitnesses would have known that they hadn’t really seen Christ and were therefore lying. With so many conspirators, surely someone would have confessed, if not to end his own suffering then at least to end the suffering of his friends and family. The first generation of Christians were absolutely brutalized, especially following the conflagration in Rome in A.D. 64 (a fire which Nero allegedly ordered to make room for the expansion of his palace, but which he blamed on the Christians in Rome in an effort to exculpate himself). As the Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus recounted in his Annals of Imperial Rome (published just a generation after the fire): “Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind. Mockery of every sort was added to their deaths. Covered with the skins of beasts, they were torn by dogs and perished, or were nailed to crosses, or were doomed to the flames and burnt, to serve as a nightly illumination, when daylight had expired.” (Annals, XV, 44) Nero illuminated his garden parties with Christians whom he burnt alive. Surely someone would have confessed the truth under the threat of such terrible pain. The fact is, however, we have no record of any early Christian denouncing the faith to end his suffering. Instead, we have multiple accounts of post-resurrection appearances and hundreds of eyewitnesses willing to suffer and die for it. If the disciples didn’t steal the body, how else do we explain the empty tomb? Some have suggested that Christ faked His death and later escaped from the tomb. This is patently absurd. According to the eyewitness testimony, Christ was beaten, tortured, lacerated, and stabbed. He suffered internal damage, massive blood loss, asphyxiation, and a spear through His heart. There is no good reason to believe that Jesus Christ (or any other man for that matter) could survive such an ordeal, fake His death, sit in a tomb for three days and nights without medical attention, food or water, remove the massive stone which sealed His tomb, escape undetected (without leaving behind a trail of blood), convince hundreds of eyewitnesses that He was resurrected from the death and in good health, and then disappear without a trace. Such a notion is ridiculous. The Fifth Line of Evidence for Christ's resurrection Finally, a fifth line of evidence concerns a peculiarity of the eyewitness testimony. In all of the major resurrection narratives, women are credited as the first and primary eyewitnesses. This would be an odd invention since in both the ancient Jewish and Roman cultures women were severely disesteemed. Their testimony was regarded as insubstantial and dismissible. Given this fact, it is highly unlikely that any perpetrators of a hoax in 1st Century Judea would elect women to be their primary witnesses. Of all the male disciples who claimed to see Jesus resurrected, if they all were lying and the resurrection was a scam, why did they pick the most ill-perceived, distrusted witnesses they could find? Dr. William Lane Craig explains, “When you understand the role of women in first-century Jewish society, what's really extraordinary is that this empty tomb story should feature women as the discoverers of the empty tomb in the first place. Women were on a very low rung of the social ladder in first-century Israel. There are old rabbinical sayings that said, 'Let the words of Law be burned rather than delivered to women' and 'blessed is he whose children are male, but woe to him whose children are female.' Women's testimony was regarded as so worthless that they weren't even allowed to serve as legal witnesses in a Jewish court of Law. In light of this, it's absolutely remarkable that the chief witnesses to the empty tomb are these women... Any later legendary account would have certainly portrayed male disciples as discovering the tomb - Peter or John, for example. The fact that women are the first witnesses to the empty tomb is most plausibly explained by the reality that - like it or not - they were the discoverers of the empty tomb! This shows that the Gospel writers faithfully recorded what happened, even if it was embarrassing. This bespeaks the historicity of this tradition rather than its legendary status." (Dr. William Lane Craig, quoted by Lee Strobel, The Case For Christ, Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1998, p. 293) “The evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is so overwhelming that it compels acceptance by proof which leaves absolutely no room for doubt.” www.gotquestions.org/why-believe-resurrection.html

Chris Shearer Bart Ehrman himself acknowledges that all evidence supports that a Jesus's disciples believed he had risen from the dead, from the earliest days of the church. This, and the doctrine of the atonement are the firmest basis of Christianity from the beginning. After 30 years of dealing with doubt in the evidence to support the truth claims of Mormonism, I personally can appreciate the abundance of evidence of the historical claims of the Bible. The foundation evidence for Mormonism is not even comparable -- not anywhere close. Ad far as later doctrinal developments, Bart Ehrman's views are very relevant and should not be dismissed, by any serious investigator. You can no more assume that Christianity today is what it was originally than you could assume Mormonism is today what it was originally.

Wow, impressed by the literary references in the beginning. The algorithm brings me to this part of KZitem through IBLP. I’d heard of the CES Letter but assumed it was full of doctrinal references I wouldn’t understand. Instead, it’s right up my alley - my degree was in French and English Letters, so I read a ridiculous amount of 19th century literature. The only time I tried to read the Book of Mormon, I was sitting bored in a hotel. Of course there was one in the desk drawer. The prose was just a parody of KJV-esque language mixed with the lowest-tier popular reading material of the 1800-1830 period, before Romanticism really took off. As far as the actual content, I only remember the Angel Moroni showing up. If I remember correctly, Smith was saying things like ‘and the hem of his sleeves was approximately one inch’ and all of these other ridiculous details that NO ONE would be noticing if an angel was suddenly standing there. It sounded like a 13 year old throwing minute details into an elaborate lie b/c he thinks it makes it sound more believable, when in fact it tips his parents off that he’s lying. And don’t even get me started on the etymology of all the names that he evidently thought were very impressively ‘bible-sounding.’ And then, when I talked to Mormons, they had a tendency to try to look deep into your eyes and implore you to ‘read the book and ASK YOURSELF if it’s true.’ Dude, I couldn’t get through a few pages without rolling my eyes, throwing it back in the drawer and reading the menu from the local Chinese takeout place instead. Same difference - flowery language, suspicious descriptions and you read it wondering to what degree it’s lies.

it's such a poor quality read that it's been changed in 4000 places. all without the slightest hint of a change ever being made. and there are no distinct mormon doctrines in the book. i'm suppose to believe that god needed a book to bring out hidden secrets of christianity, and then he forgot what those hidden secrets are. and then there's the authorship question. who wrote it? his mother had already written one book. and she had already raised one other son, alvin, to be a prophet, but alvin died. years later, after joseph is shot and killed, his mother and wife take up living together in the same house, and guess what? another prophet is raised. what a concidence. i'm not saying it was not a miracle. i'm sure it was a miracle. it's a miracle that anyone can read the book without dieing of boredom.

@davidbean6053 Your good works can’t save you that’s at the heart of the issue with Mormonism and all other religions including atheism. In other religions your sin is not dealt with. Christianity is the only religion that teaches that your good works DO NOT save you. We can only be saved by grace through faith, because of the good works of Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life because he is God, he died the death we should have died, and defeated death by rising again. When you stand before the righteous Judge he will not base your salvation on your good works, he will see if your sins have been covered by the blood of Christ. As Christians we are saved first and only by grace and are a new creation in Christ and can now do works that please God because our sins have been covered. Read Ephesians chapter 2. You have to have maintain a level of cognitive dissonance as an atheist because it is not a logical faith.

@@christiankaiser4471 Actually, 100 years ago, the evidence for the Big Bang was so conclusive that the Pope himself offered to make it official doctrine. However, Georges Lemaitre...the Jesuit priest with a PhD in Astronomy, who first discovered universal expansion...told the Pope that authoritarian declarations of doctrine were directly antithetical to how science works. Of course, beyond a Creator, Lemaitre couldn't explain THE beginning...because Quantum Physics had only just been discovered. Since then, ACTUAL Quantum Physicists have directly observed evidence of matter popping in and out of existence...out of nothing. As such, everything that exists _can_ plausibly exist _without_ a Creator. Thus, if you want me to _expand my mind_ to incorporate a Creator, the onus is on _you_ to present convincing evidence for His existence, involvement, and intentions. You'll also have to account for how a being complex enough to create the universe doesn't require a Creator to create Him. If you can overcome this logical fallacy of Special Pleading, then maybe you'll set me on a path toward God. Until then, as a good Christian, you'll have to _forgive me_ if i don't rely on a book from the Bronze Age (full of demonstrable falsehoods and self-contradictions) as my guide to life. I tried to find out about Mormonism through the people themselves. I knew that Mormonism was not Christianity, but was not sure about what they believed. As it turns out, neither are they. They cannot answer questions with any kind of consistency, and I got plenty of self-contradicting answers. When I read the King James Version in the BOM with italics, both those things really bothered me. At the same time, I was getting so many lies from them -- and it was impossible for sure to say that they were lies because I'm thinking now that their members are being lied to by their own church. So where does the deceit begin, where is its origin? Also at this time, I wanted to know how Joseph Smith supposedly got the BOM and why did anyone think this guy was a Christian. There is NO straight answer, and there are numerous versions of how he got the book -- ALL of which are Satanic/occultic in method and origin. Joseph Smith starts out a scoundrel, claims to do real wizardry/necromancy, and it goes down hill from there. No conversion experience, no saving testimony, nothing whatsoever that he became a Christian while at the same time he was practicing various forms of sorcery. Why would anyone think that God would have anything to do with any of this?

you seem to have opened the door on mormonism at a bad time. you see they had it all to themselves for so long. that means they could say anything they wanted and the people kind went along without asking any questions. now with the internet things are a little different. it all started when mark hoffman blew up those people in salt lake city. mark hoffman, you will remember, was a documents forger, and he blew up some people who were about to blow his cover. then he got caught. and the mormon church had to come clean about what they had just bought. and what they had just bought was a letter about a salamander that turned into angel moroni. which is kind of bad. but the only thing is, is that hoffman wrote the letter himself. so anyway the church got caught trying to hide really damning stuff. which they didn't have to acknowledge, but they did. in for a penny in for a pound. and then all of sudden they come up all smiles and happy and admitted to a whole lot of stuff, like "nothing new here." so that's where things are now. things they admit to: joseph smith wrote the whole book of mormon while looking at a rock in his hat. so why the big story about a angel and gold plates? joseph smith had 40 wives and was doing other men's wives. yep. the youngest was 14. assassins. that one they kind do admit and kind of don't admit. need for a prophet: this is a kind of big one really. if mormons get personal revelation, why do we need a prophet? especially when their doctrine changes. doesn't that make the old prophet look kind of foolish? so anyway, that's why there's so much disagreement in modern mormonism. things are in a state of flux. they're trying to keep it together and at the same time trying to make accomidations for the truth.

Sell your belongings: Luke 14:33 "In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples." Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Luke 12:33 “Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.” Luke 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Please note that only Luke 18:22 and Matthew 19:21 concern the story of Jesus advising the wealthy young man about the difficulty of entering heaven. These verses are included for completeness, and to acknowledge the existence of this story because the most common objection I receive to the claim that Jesus required followers to sell their belongings is that I *must* be talking about this particular story and misunderstanding the message it conveys. However in Luke 12:33 and Luke 14:33 Jesus is not speaking to that man but to a crowd following him, and in 14:33 he specifically says that those who do not give up everything they have cannot be his disciples. It is therefore not a recommendation but a requirement, and is not specific to the wealthy.) Cut off family members who try to stop you: Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even their own life--such a person cannot be my disciple." Matt. 10:35-37 “For I have come to turn a man against his father a daughter against her mother a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law---a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 19:29 "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." Do not apply critical thought to doctrine: Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.” Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 28:26 “Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.”

Wrong, this is the exact definition of bashing and defaming someone's belief system and religious beliefs. If this Jesse made a video, "informing" people of Jewish beliefs and mocking their beliefs, people would EASILY see that it's anti-Semitic and pure bigotry. If she doesn't agree with our beliefs, that's perfectly fine, she can simply state, "I don't agree with their beliefs" and the talk about her own beliefs, we do this all of the time about other religions and their beliefs but we NEVER make videos, books, tracts or sermons on other people's beliefs, defaming and disparaging them, it's wrong and goes 100% against Jesus' teaching of not judging others.

@@georgebauerschmidt5289 Yes, reprove: "reprimand or admonish" -Webster's Dictionary, which means to reprimand or admonish YOUR members, which the Bible also clearly instructs, if they get out of line with hitting their kids, stealing from others, etc., not showing bigotry and hate and intolerance for others and their beliefs. The Bible also says: "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, save he revealeth his secrets unto his servants, the prophets." Amos 3:7 And, "scripture is not for personal interpretation" 2 Peter 1:20 But requires a prophet to interpret. If you're not a prophet, you cannot interpret the scripture and if you don't follow a prophet of God, you do not know his secrets and will. Fortunately, there is a prophet of God on the earth today and he speaks with God and to God's people. Read what he has to say: churchofjesuschrist.org/ God bless!

@@MrArtist7777 I can interpret the scriptures. The Catholic church and Jehovah's Witnesses also play the game that they are the only ones that can interpret scriptures. Baloney! Notice that the verse says _"prophecy OF scripture."_ It does not say, "no scripture" is of any personal interpretation. Prophecy is a subset of Scripture. It is not Scripture as a whole. So, what is prophecy of Scripture? Well, its prophecy. Let's look at the context. 2 Peter 1:20 does not say that we cannot interpret the word of God without church authority. Furthermore, the Greek word for "interpretation" is ἑρμηνεία, hermeneia. It occurs twice in the New Testament. Scripture speaks of individual's ability to interpret Scripture 1 John 2:27, _"As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him."_ Acts 17:11, _"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." _ Romans 14:5, _"One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind." _ As you can see from the three verses above, we are told that the anointing we have received, the Holy Spirit, will teach us what we need to know (1 John 2:27). We see that people compared even what Paul the Apostle said to Scripture and they were commended for it (Acts 17:11). We also see that Paul said "each person must be fully convinced in his own mind" regarding worship days (Romans 14:5). If ecclesiastical authority is necessary in order to interpret Scripture, then why is it these three verses speak to the contrary? There is no necessity given to submit to an ecclesiastical authority that will tell people what the Scriptures "really mean." As is evident from reading, the verse is speaking of the subset of Scripture; namely, prophecy. Prophecy is something that occurs within Scripture, just as narration, poetry, imprecation, songs, etc., also occur in Scripture. But, it is only prophecy that is singled out regarding interpretation. This makes sense, especially when consider what Peter says next in 2 Peter 1:21. _"for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."_
@MrArtist7777

@@georgebauerschmidt5289 And what is scripture? It's writings of men moved upon by the Holy Ghost, which is prophecy. Sure, you can read scripture and try to understand it but you will never fully understand it without the spirit of prophecy, which prophets of God have. You help prove my point that the Bible contradicts itself, over and over and over again as you can find virtually any scripture and find another that will completely contradict it. It's bizarre but true. I know the Bible extremely well but avoid arguing any point in it as I can just as easily find the counter argument and just go in circles, all day, every day. Is the Bible pointless? No, it's valuable but needs to be understood by the spirit of prophecy and no other way as you'll get caught in the circle. Cheers!

What part of the Book of Mormon makes the book bad? If it teaches about Christ, Love, and the need to be obedient to God's commandments - why so much effort to discredit it? If the book is the work of Satan, why so many good teachings about Christ? Joseph and his family faced so much abuse and torture by other people - wouldn't a person come clean if he was lying in order to protect his family? So many people tried to stop the publication of the Book of Mormon; Joseph was put in jail multiple times and sealed the Book of Mormon with his own life by being shot in jail and never once denounced that he saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and the plates of Gold which contained the record of the Book of Mormon. Who protects something with his own life if it was false?

A very interesting fact is that dear Mormon folk are constantly telling each other and anyone that will listen, that they know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and know that the LDS faith +Book of Mormon etc is true. I've been a Christian for some 50 years and have attend many Christian churches in that time, but have never once heard anyone testify anything but their faith and trust in the Father /Christ himself and the Bible. Never once did I hear anyone testify that their particular church denomination was the true church. Listening to these frequent and repetitive Mormon testimonies I'm left with the impression that there is a underlying deep seated doubt about the truth about Mormonism, and these testimonies are used to bolster each other's faith in Joseph Smith and his church's claims. I believe that these nagging doubts are the work of the Holy Spirit in individual Mormon people. That's my thoughts. Kind regards to all, especially Mormons.

I call myself the revolving door Mormon. I've been inactive for prolly 40 ish years than active since 2016 and with that goes all the lifestyle being inactive, if anyone can find fault with the church would be me but that's another book. The one thing that has been my anchor is a witness I had of Christ, Jesus at age 11. I already know that there's kajillions of things to the contrary of Mormonism being this and that but this one and only witness I had has cleared the way for me to know where I stand with Jesus Christ as my Absolute and Eternal Redeemer. I received my testimony that Jesus is The Christ in 1966 at age 11 in Arlington Virginia before I was ordained into the Aaronic Priesthood of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. The Holy Ghost bore witness that "pierced me to my very core." Every part of me became "one" with this experience with a JOY and BLISS words can't express. There isn't anything earthly that can even come close to expressing this eternal reality through words or writing. I was between two planes of existence, one physical and one spiritual. My mom and I were reading the children's rendition of the illustrated version of the Book of Mormon. I was sitting on the bed while she was reading. This was a daily routine in which mom would read aloud. She encouraged me to read on my own, the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon written for youngsters. Over time we were on chapter 11 of 3rd Nephi starting with verse: 8 And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; and the eyes of the whole multitude were turned upon him, and they durst not open their mouths, even one to another, and wist not what it meant, for they thought it was an angel that had appeared unto them. 9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying: 10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. 11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning. 12 And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven. 13 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying: 14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world. All I can say is whatever works for you to believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior is a foundation of giving, caring, ministering and above all loving each other. Just words right?! I know I'm the ultimate hypocrite too so like I said, I can write a book about being out of the church. I can only go from my experience and I can tell you that it is not from the "Dark Side." There is no other name or way to have this feeling I witnessed from the Holy Spirit at age 11 than through our Precious Jesus Christ. He is the Only Way 🕊️🕊️🕊️

I know there are reasons for which the passages in the Book of Mormon that quote the Bible are word for word and I do not know the reasons so I will leave that alone however, in 2004 the Algonquin speaking tribes of Indians located in the Great Lakes region are known to have Haplo X1 and X2 DNA markers which derive from the middle east. There are bone pits from large battles found, There are tablets with ancient block Hebrew found throughout the mid west. There have been ancient swords found and dated to Book of Mormon times. We know there was trade going on in the ancient Americas from China, The Vikings and more cultures. If there were not horses then why are horses depicted on Indian petrogliphs dated before Columbus? Just because you say they don't exist does not prove they did not exist. There is way more evidence supporting The Book of Mormon than not.
