The challenge of converting the designs to Expanded Colour Gamut (ECG).
Achieve ink savings of 21%, 50% reduction in CO² footprint, 63% reduction in substrate waste, 72% reduction in set-up time and 97% reduction in cleaning solvents to enhance your sustainability with a minimal environmental impact, by converting to Expanded Colour Gamut (ECG).
We took part in the Flexo Frontier with Polyflex Africa, Sabre Equipment, Anilox Laser Technology Ltd, Woolworths, and SPAR South Africa had recently teamed up to take part in a roadshow in South Africa. Their mission: to print SPAR Brand confectionery range. A challenging task, with many Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) and spot colours, the team embraced the challenge of converting the designs to Expanded Colour Gamut (ECG).
The sustainability objective of the roadshow was to reduce the environmental impact of the printing process. Collectively we achieved this goal, thanks to the implementation of co-packaging. This process, which involved combining products into smaller packages, helped reduce the amount of material used and the need for resources, ultimately helping to lessen the environmental footprint.
The team was also able to shorten the initial print runs.
This allowed for more efficient use of the materials and avoided
unnecessary waste. And finally, achieving the print requirements for the confectionary range would see ECG over time show all the savings listed above.
See for yourself how we achieved this:
