A lovely conversation! I hope to hear more live music from you. You are a phenomenal singer, no questions about that, but comparing studio recordings to the live videos on KZitem (with Ren or just yours), there is something magical in the live ones. I think Chris has it when he talks about inhabiting a character. It comes through much stronger in the live versions. And like I said, magical! Thank you for taking the time to do this! Ps. This is coming from a metalhead ;) Great music and great art is not limited by genres ;)

I contacted Chinchilla to ask for a collab for my electronica music. I asked thinking nah she won't get back to me. She did infact get back to me she said it wasn't for her but I was blown away that she took the time to listen and actually get back to me. She will forever have my respect. She had no obligation to reply or even entertain the prospect. Very gracious and genuine person.

I identify with Chinchilla being more uncomfortable busking at first. I do community theater (a full house is 250 people, lol), but I've also done storytelling, where I remain stationary and groups of up to 20 (but sometimes as few as 2) come to hear my story. I'll do it 10-15 times per night and the fewer people there are, the harder it is. The more personal it is. It's like ... with 250 people - not a stadium - there are bound to be a few people who don't care for what you put on stage. It just seems so much more hurtful when you did a "performance" for 2 people, you looked them in the eyes for 7-10 minutes and they walk away not enjoying your offering. Much as Chinchilla stated, two different skillsets. Acting and storytelling are two different things. I don't sing, but I get it! :)

Just so you know, your demographic isn't contained to young women. I am decades older than you and an American, but your music just speaks to my soul. Yep, I'm angry about a lot of things and empowering music is always welcome. And I'm also at an age where my give a damn is busted, so I'm not really afraid to speak up anymore, because I'm not trying to impress anyone. Don't like me? Eh. That's ok, there are plenty of other people for you to like and I have a tribe of empowering friends that's really all I need. Go find someone who fits your ideal person. If I'm not naturally your ideal person, that's ok, I'm not changing. Period. Move along. I always wondered how older people stopped filtering and became more childlike in their ability to just say it like it is. I'm finding out. And I love it. So, yeah. Your music is blasting in my world, I feel it. ❤

She is so great ❤, I can understand what she means about being more terrified when busking vs being on stage in an arena. When I used to sing on stage it always felt like it was just me and the band, between the lights being in your face I couldn't usually even see the crowd. But being on the street or even in really small clubs I always got more nervous because I was always more aware of the audience, it was so much more intimate which always made me feel 100 times more self conscious.

I have heard someone say that due to technologies ability to auto tune and deepfake and otherwise alter reality that authenticity will be the currency of the 21st century. I think the imperfections of the live performances are why people gravitate to them so much. We know that its real, its raw and it was made with emotion. If you get stirred to anger or sadness in a conversation your tone changes, why wouldn't music do the same? Produced music, while still entertaining, tends to be soulless. Ren and Chinchilla are 100% soul music, that's why I love it.

Loving the interview so far Chris, just a tiny little tid bit. I hoped you'd try to talk about Chinchilla a bit more before talking about Ren. Even though Ren is probably a great friend and inspiration, it might become tiring to hear people talking about you only with Ren in mind. I absolutely understand it's not how you meant it and I'm probably overthinking, but having a more cordial introduction where'd you'd ask more about her before jumping to Ren stuff, it would feel more galant to me. Despite what I just wrote, I love the way you interview and get all giddy when you vibe with Chinchilla. You're very authentic and I love it. As for Chinchilla, hard to put into words how much respect has this young lady gained with me in past few weeks. I love people that don't compromise their artistic delivery by calculating it for an audience. Keep on looking for ways to express what you feel. @chinchilla is an amazing! She said her favourite part of songs is when the singer lets their go! That's my favourite to! This is a little compilation of me belting out! I made this after watch this interview! I can't wait to cover fingers! I love that one! And cold water where she is singing on that stage in her amazing outfit! It's so cool she makes her own hats! I wish I could. I hope she makes a video about how she makes her hats! Mess with the wrong B in the wrong eara! Here's my vocals kzitem.info/news/bejne/xX6Z3I2lbqx2mn4

I'm actually surprised. Ren and Chinchilla are so in-tune to what each other are doing in those videos that I just assumed that they knew each other well and had performed together for a long time. What a great interview!

Spontaneity is what made Whitney Houston's live performances so great, so I think Chinchilla just needs to take that liberty when she does a big show when she can ♥

Thank you for this fantastic interview , very interesting to glimpse the behind the scenes chinchilla, what a beautiful and interesting character she is . She is speaking for many women with a raw honesty and vulnerability few can muster. I hope you continue with these interviews of independent artists. ❤❤❤
