There will never be another band like the clash. They did many kinds of music, and they were not afraid of taking a stand against injustice any place on earth! Miss you guys!

One of the greatest nights of my life. The cameraman's assistants were pushing me back to film the shots of the band from the front of the stage, so this is pretty much the view I had of the gig. The atmosphere was electric.....

i was a punk back in the early 80's....we listened to this and we listened to reggae too, we listened to anything which was meaningful to our generation...we came we saw we kicked arse and turned out responsible tax paying adults but we made the music industry sit up and listen....long live the punk rock generation xxxxx

I love it. I'm Jamaican, born 1960, and grew up in New York during the 70's and listened to it all, reggae, punk 2nd wave ska, house etc. Fact, many of the Black punks who were part of the movement in NY, were either Caribbean born or 1st generation Carib. We always felt at home whether in Kingston,London,New York or Amsterdam. Great times. Money and the love of it killed youth culture.

God, I missed this. Fucking hell, I missed this. I grew up on the Clash, but was too young by about 5 years. I remember 'Clash City Rockers' in my parents' basement in 1988, but I was too late. I am so happy to have their recorded music, but I missed them live. I painted my parent's roof to 'London Calling' over a solid 5 days in 1989 and thought I had died.

Here's the whole story. After the album was done, it was only about half an hour long, they decided to cut a verison of Police and Thieves since it was a favortie of the band. Lee Perry approved of this and later produced The Clash single Complete Control. Side note, at the same time Bob Marley came around to the english punk/ska scene while visiting London. This inspired him to write Punky Reggae Party.

I remember watching the bootleg of RUDE BOY--and worshiping this performance--back in the '80s when you couldn't just look stuff up on Google. Had to pay $30 for it at some record shop--you remember those dontcha?--and watched it for every penny's worth. That's how we did.

This is my favorite Clash performance on film. I like how it's shot and I love how we can see Joe close up..sweat, spit, chipped teeth and all. He's not worried about the slick, "rock star" image. The music and the conveying of a message are the most important things. My favorite covers, such as this one, attempt to do something new with what is already a great song. I love these guys.

Apparently, after Rude Boy was shot, all of the live footage was of such bad audio quality, that they had to rerecord it in the studio. That is why the audio is so good on this clip. If true, that Clash did a pretty good job of redoing the performances in synch with the video.
