I'm obsessed with the nuclear mushrooms. Mushrooms for death, mushrooms for the cycle of death and rebirth, and blossoming after a torrential downpour. Highly underutilized symbology imo

@professionalpainthuffer I highly recommend the Elden Ring lore and art about mushrooms and death and rebirth. I know it is just a game but it is heavily symbolizing the themes you enjoyed here and I wouldn't be surprised if it was influenced by Murikami-Sama. Lots of videos on the mushroom theme in Elden Ring for easy digestion. Have fun!

talking about "consumerism" while putting his flower on every overpriced items. reminds me of Banksy. their message gets blurred by thier fat bank account. i say this as a person who like him

I was thinking this while watching, it seems odd to me that these artists talk about how consumerism is an issue while also participating in the overpriced and often unethically made luxury brands. I think his message gets lost in that, even if he is trying to make a comment on it.

But that might change.. Loving the channel...truly different & somehow more real to the world,if that makes sense..thank you.

Another insightful and thought provoking video. I first encountered Murakami's work through the "727" piece which I stiil really love,I also own a print of "Blue Flowers And Skuuls" and I love this because for me it is the artist's take on a Nature Morte or Vanitas painting from art history,it has a beaty with a sting in it's tail. The smiling flower is a true icon It was lierally everywhere an on everything which made his work more accesible to a wider audience. I thik Murakami is a truve ahead if his time creative visonary. I always sense he is like a japanese version of Jeff Koons,in that he is exposing the dark underbelly of consumer culture. The super flat style appaers simple, but it has so much depth beyond it's seemingly joyful brightness. (matt) P.s I like tat you have cahnded the avtar for yoy KZitem channel to a self portrait, seems more fitting.

I think The 500 Arhats is an amazing work, Supernova too, for commercial art. LV certainly needed a colorful facelift. I could see him doing an emo or raver line for Hot Topic unless his brand is too elevated for that.

Not related to this specific video but I wanted to ask my favorite art channel: I’ve been looking into medieval art, and I have what may be a dumb question but I don’t know the answer. Why is it so BAD? I look at paintings by Sotio, Facundus, Herrad of Landsberg, Hildegard of Bingen, famous artists of the time who I can look up today, but their art just leaves me thinking “Have they ever actually seen a human face? Why are the promotions so bad?" It gets a little better with Duccio and Giotto but prior to them…what was up that art for hundreds of years was worse than what I could draw? And I am BAD at art so that’s really saying something.

the relation between japan and usa is very simple to udnerstand. usa went there with a couple of heavy battleships and just told japanese emepror to the us biddings or simply get hammered down completely. to force this blunt act of terror usa even collected EVERY katana of japan and smashed it into smithereens, which was and is still today one of the cores of japanese culture and prowess. luckily some of the most revered katanas survived this cultural terrorism

‘Low Brow’ Art/Pop Surrealism is really cool all around. It has really sprung from Anime and Cartoon television imagery. I had not seen this artist before though! Thank you for the introduction. And I love the cherry tree!! I don’t see a problem with an artist making money.😂 Picasso got fairly wealthy also. DaVinci, too. Heck, Ed Hardy, as a tattoo artist made his bag on affordable clothing! The idea that an artist must starve is wrong. They just need the savvy and drive. And that is not a statement that everyone who does not pursue wealth is wrong, not at all, just a recognition that all artists are different, just like any other grouping of people.♥️✌️🗳️🟦 22:35 HA! This is a modern take on the old realist paintings of huge bouquets with some of the flowers shown as faded and dying. 😊 So cool.
