lmfao Todd was like "oh so thats what i did" like he didn't even understand what he just did. Like Stan said, it's all just instinctual to him so he probably goes auto-pilot when drawing I don't think he was being rude

I agree; i loved that moment. My guess was that Todd did not know how to react to the compliment. It can be a pretty awkward moment, and Todd strikes me as someone who can talk well when in control of the situation, but a bit lost outside of that :)

Of course Todd knew exactly what he did when he constructed the layout. He has thought carefully about this for years and was being carefully sarcastic when he played along with Stan’s silly comment.

yeah, I would be careful with that, I know people who worked with him, and that opinion varies a lot, depends the situation, again, I dont know him personally,.. maybe he is too hard working and douche to someone, or a nice responsible guy to another, etc.

@@cpthardluck a master of what? stan never drew a comic in his life he just had other people do the work and slapped his name on it and fucked them on royalties and rights, he was a scummy business man and a self proclaimed writer (he forced the artists to let him write so he could take double the money) hes a nepo hire who's uncle was ran marvel so he went around the company annoying everyone and doing what he wanted because nobody could say anything to him, hes also the guy who ran them into bankruptcy multiple times and sat around crying whilst other people did all the work to save the company

I've noticed one thing Stan and Todd mention a lot in this video that Marvel and DC and other companies haven't mentioned in years. What the kids want or just kids in general. Lately all I hear is the actors and creators talking about how great they are and how they are brave, strong and powerful and what they want. It's full blown narcissism and it's a real turn off.

Look at what this guy did in the 90's!!! It's a creative jump and also detail wise compared to the 80's. A work of art, no doubt. So much love for the co-creator Stan Lee and for one of the guys who elevated Spidey to such hights like Todd Mcfarlane. ❤

@@maxmartin7087 cough alex ross is super slow, photographs himself and other people and basically does direct copies from those photos with very slight alterations to make the comic characters. Todd and Jim(especially Jim) can output fantastic fairly anatomically and perspectically(that a word?) correct art in a matter of seconds straight from their heads and twist and contort everything to how they see fit, like, insanely well. When it comes to technical abilities and shading etc alex ross is still legendary. Tho he does almost only do cover art

The creators were really fucked back then, he had every right to leave. The writers, artists, etc,..They all had a bad deal, even in DC. The sales drop wasn't because of Image Comic's creation, it was because of the larger factions decisions, they fucked themselves over back then.

Yeah, he didn't draw HERE, but he explained fundamentals like perspective, figure drawing, how to make those images pop and feel more dynamic, etc,... Even panel layout and such. All the things that build to that special drawing you long for. It was more of an explanation/tutorial on how to do things. He has drawing videos on his channel and websites.

I have THE GREAT SUSPECT that Todd McFarlane is the Big Lie in Comic History Forever... His Biography says he was rejected countless times by publishers. A great artist gets a job at the first or second interview... PERIOD! There is something in his approach, his gestures, his lines, in drawing videos that are not entirely convincing. In the industry there has always been talk of PHANTOM ARTISTS in some cases... I don't know... but it's just me. At the end of the day, the man today is rich $300,000,000 (according to Internet 2022) .... anyway.
