SORRY!!!! LOL... Never dreamed building mine would get someone back into collecting, so that's a plus. Yours looks great, well done.

Haha amazing!! It looks great, you're the only one who can see the flaws as you've been so close with it for weeks but it just looks so sweet! 2000 books is a lot. Going over to your other video now. I would love to try and do one for about 500, maybe short box length.
@TheSpaceBaby

Yeah.. you could probably get away with around $300 for the same but in short box version.

This is Quite Impressive. What I like MOST about your Drawer Storage System is that it appears NOT to be stationary & looks like it can be moved. I wonder if it would work you Possibly install Four (4) Ultra Heavy - Duty Locking Casters to the Bottom of your cabinet to make it Rolling Mobile?
@paulsnyder3319
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that could work in the right setting -- I was going for more of a stationary piece of furniture to sit on carpet -- the casters you're thinking of would be too large for my eyes, lol. I'm making another one to compliment this one that holds slabs on one side.

the only thing that worries me are those drawer rails....I had those on a file cabinet I stored my comics in for a while and over time they just gave way due to all the weight in each drawer....hopefully you have better luck than I did
@TheSpaceBaby

Yeah, check my how to vid -- I overloaded all of the possible mounting holes with, larger, #8 1" screws.. Those rails aren't going anywhere.

+TheSpaceBaby understood. It was the bearings that gave way in mine.
@Goosefang

When I do mine, I am going to make sure I get rails that are rated to 100lbs. That should give more than enough support. Although, over time, they will inevitably need replacing. I worked in a cabinet factory. Those bearings will go eventually no matter how good they are.

i'm only going to open those effers maybe 3x a month so I think I'll be fine... be sure to pm me on your solution. Also, let me know how to get rid of lateral torsion.

TheSpaceBaby I'm Not certain which Rails you are actually using here, But The Full Extension Ball-Bearing Rails slide the best & have the highest weight Capacity than any other. Which appear to be the ones you have installed on your shelving system.

Wow. I can't believe I didn't know you did a few videos. I was checking every couple of months and assumed you quit making vids. I was wrong. lol That cabinet is super awesome. Looks great. If I tried to start something like that it would take years and look like something Homer Simpson rigged up. Sorry to hear about getting rid of your comics. I have unloaded some big books in the past years for cash as well but I always seem to get back into to collecting. No regrets. You will build up your collection back in no time. It is always fun to hunt down deals anyway.

If you would have used a wood conditioner prior to staining you would have gotten a better coverage and uniform coloring to your stain.

That cabinet needs a pedestal to get it off the floor. About 2-3" high, consider a recess about an inch or two for a kickplate. The boxes should have been put on shelves with bottom mount slides. It's way too heavy for those side mount slides. The cabinet itself should have a frame to cover the empty spaces. (similar to kitchen cabinets) You can face the edges of the plywood boxes with veneer to cover the raw edges.

damn. 500 some. the last dudes vid i watched made a 7 wide by 4 tall and said it was 550. i want to do this though a 2 wide x 4 tall. and make em flush so i can put prob about 3 next to each other. about how many i will need for my collection.

The difference in price comes from the quality of the materials used. Cougarcomics used fiberboard and melamine as opposed to this guy used real wood. Also if you look at the drawer sliders in this video, they are much more heavy duty. About twice as expensive as the ones Cougarcomics used. It all adds up.
