If you're using SLA masters printed by someone with a Formlabs 2-type printer, you will never have curing inhibition with platinum silicone. The inhibition comes up when you use masters printed with UV LCD printers such as the Elegoo Mars or Photon (I own a Mars myself). In this case, all Sorta Clear silicones will cause inhibitions, and you must use Inhibit X or a tin cure silicone.

This is my understanding as well. This is probably worth an edit to the video, for clarification. Otherwise people will be confused when they get curing inhibition with masters that they made themselves.

This is a good thing to point out! I mentioned at around 2:30 that some printed masters & silicones don't mix, but I didn't have an exhaustive list!

@@MichaelMakes Elegoo Mars user here - if you let the printed result sit for 1-2 weeks and soak it in Inhibit X, you can use platinum silicone. It just takes a while.

Recommend painting tape for you molds, not rubber bands. Rubber bands you take the chance of squeezing your molds and skewing your dice.

This is a pretty basic system, only most "pros" would tell you it is better to vacuum chamber the resin before pouring, then pressure pot if you want to be 100% sure. I do agree with using the super glue, in all honesty the drilling isn't necessary and the clean up for the glue is not in any way significantly more than the sprue with no glue.

Little tip for cuttin the silicone. Do wavey cuts to get some sort of keys so the parts won't shift. You'll end up with better alignement and your seamlines will vanish.

@wuerfel_schmied

@@MichaelMakes you should cut them all the way along the cut. Clean waves make a good fit. Especially after some casts due to the opening of the mold the material will shift.

So I got to know why go spru? Seems to me this then requires you to having to clean off the spru side. Why not just get a silcone container thats at least twice as thick as your dice coat with mold release put dice in then pour in silicone enough to cover dice only, basically your filling only half of container. Once dry remove silicone from mold flip over and put back into mold exposing side that did not get cast. Coat with mold release, cut alignment notches and pour in more silicone wait till dry. Once dry separate two mold halves remove dice from mold and pour in resin align notches and cover. Once dry separate mold and no spru to contend with.

Love this cherry blossom set - especially the 2 tone inking. I've been finding when I ink my dice, the paint smears across the face. I've been keeping a makeup wipe close at hand to clean my fingers between swipes and sometimes swiping my now wet, cleaned finger back across the face helps. But I wonder if the paint consistency has something to do with that too. Thanks for this video - your mold setup and mine are pretty much identical, except I use the tips of a chopstick sized bamboo skewer instead of a toothpick and I use Sorta Clear 12 (which turned out to be moot since I use the tube from a paper towel roll for my mold forms. That will be changing soon). My method is a blend of Rybonator and Dark Moon Dice. Cheers!

to be clear, I'm not a professional and I'm saying that purely from what I've seen so take that with a grain of salt you don't necessarily need a pressure chamber to make dice, you totally can skip this step however it clearly is more simple because it avoid tiny bubble to be stuck in your project so you know in advance it will be perfect 100% of the time (or 95% because you never know what will happen) but to avoid that you can also pour you resin really slowly into your mold, in one place to avoid those bubbles! I hope my explanation is understandable, and sorry for mistakes, English is not my first language! hope you will do awesome resin dice and projects! good luck 😊

I've considered trying a sprue on the face like you've done, but one thing I worried about is having air bubbles trapped in that top corner that is now a sealed high point. Have you had to do any problem solving on that or is it just kind of a non issue?
@MichaelMakes

Try to keep the sprue at a very steep angle so you don't have too much space above the sprue, but with pressure casting & using pipettes to inject resin- it hasn't been a problem for me yet.
