Hello I'm back. I had stopped making these videos due to other projects in life and I felt there was not much interest in them. However I am happy to see some people are making use of these videos so I plan to continue.
Some more notes on cooking:
Although no metal tools are needed for the Fireclay Oven, I counted it as being unavailable to us as the main use of it is for breads and pies which require a Quern for making flour, only available by mining stone.
When making soup, the water amount actually can be more than a whole integer (Eg 1.2 liters etc etc) without breaking the recipe. Soup MUST use water and a vegetable, meats can be added to soups but will not work as the main ingredient in the 2nd slot
Bushmeat cannot be used as a cooking ingredient, only salted and pickled in a barrel (more on that later) or cooking over a fire
Cellars do not need to be underground, and it may not be possible for you to make a cellar underground anyways as you may hit stone and do not yet have a pickaxe
If you find any Peat in a field use it as fuel for cooking, it's cheap and plentiful.
FAQ:
Q: My cellar isn't working properly, the spoilage rates are still high
A: Ensure your cellar is only made of dirt, stone, or brickwork. Isn't larger than 7X7 and is either sealed up with dirt or has a single door.
Q: It's freezing out but my food is still spoiling
A: The game only cheks the temperature at sea level, it's possible the temperature where you're standing is cold (on top of a mountain) but the actual zone temperature is high
Q: Drifters keep spawning in my cellar!
A: Drifters love cellars. Just kidding, but you will need either a LOT of oil lamps or regular torch changes (Or torch holders which prevent torches from dying out if you can scavenge them) to prevent Drifties from spawning. I really recommend you not get too fancy with your first cellar, make it REALLY small and just think of it as a storage closet
Q: Will eating from a sealed crock break the seal
A: Not as of v1.18.0
Q:Where do I get Salt?
A: You have to mine it from Halite, which unfortunately means without mods like Expanded Cooking (Which I purposely omitted here for the sake of Vanilla) you cant get it at this stage
Q: My Food spoiled, how do I get the rot out of my containers?
A: Throw it in water and wait
Q: Your videos lag and hitch, why?
A: I have a really old PC, sorry...i'm in the process of upgrading slowly
Q: Why do you sound like that?
A: Weird Country of Origin
