That is, i just love the security of the old movies like James Bond, where I watched Octopussy and knew someone actually went on that train, and where the greenscreen parts were, now CGI blends it together where it obscures real stunts with fake

I think MI7 doesn’t a great job of doing so many practical stunts that when they throw in the CG it’s hard to tell. I liked the film, but there's a part in it that involves a complete backtrack of everything built in the last two movies between two characters. And McQ on a podcast also made comments about the two characters and their relationship and basically said "nope, we never wanted there to be a connection between those two. NONE at all." Yet, Rogue and Fallout had multiple moments of connection and romance between them. Suppose they're hoping the audience has a short memory, or that we are stupid. It definitely altered my view of the rest of the movie. You cannot build something over the course of two previous movies then erase it and act like it never happened in the next one. EVEN when this same movie has moments of romance and connection between those two characters in the very movie you're claiming is erasing their history and wants none of it. They were given permission to film with strict restrictions, at a time when *millions* of people were losing their jobs/being furloughed and the NHS hospital wards/staff were being overwhelmed by COVID patients. For all we know, this may have not been rhe first time the people involved had broken the rules. I don't understand how driving that bike off a ramp is anymore dangerous than normal base jumping? If anything it's more safe because you create more distance from you and the wall face.

Mission Impossible movies are truly pretty easy to make. Step one kiss Tom Cruise's but till he signs up for the movie. Step to give him all the profits from the movie so he's the blame in case of fail. Step 3 find a stunt! Repeat the stunts, pretend to write a movie script about the stunts! Find somebody willing to jump cut every seven seconds for the entire movie for everything except the Tom Cruise bathroom break! Make sure to write one climactic ironic line for Tom Cruise! Have somebody do some research into some ironic title so you don't have to call it Mission Impossible part 67.

Saw it at an IMAX 15/70 theater and while it was not shot on film, that size screen was mind blowing. Fantastic movie, go see it people!

For context you have to remember not only was M:I a huge film shooting during lockdown, it was one of the only films shooting and far and away the biggest. Say what you will about Tom Cruise but he felt the burden of the film industry starting work again was on their ability to show how well it could be done. He took any lax attitude to COVID mandates on set personally. He was right by the way, the entire industry was watching that production like a hawk, they were the crash test dummies. Obscene amount of pressure with the budget blowout too.

I think they underestimated the film state for the summer. Had this come out in may after fast x or in June I think it’s potential could have been more. No one anticipated that Barbie would make over a billion.

His tone was loud and intense, but nothing he said was unfair. Like I didn't hear him singling out an individual to humiliate them with petty insults. He ever made a threat that was violent or otherwise beyond what he had a right to do. He was shouting very rational explanations for his health safety ultimatum.

Now I don't condone Tom snapping like that, I understand he's only human. No one is safe from that kind of stress. I'd be very pissed too if I were him with the constant starts and stops. I probably would've snapped too. One thing that I hadn't considered with the ballooning budget was the delays causing it. Part of me is wondering if that's also a contributing factor as to why Indy cost so much well.

Tom Cruise is one of the last superstars right now. He is amazing and I genuinely have so much respect for him as an actor and a person. The way he puts everything into a movie is just amazing and he does all of this for our entertainment. You gotta respect the guy for that.

If Tom Cruise was yelling at people over wearing masks because he believed wearing masks were essential in not spreading Covid, then yeah it would have been an asshole (plus idiotic and nonsensical) thing to do. He was simply yelling at them because he cared about not getting the production shut down... and thank God he did because this movie was awesome

I’m confused. Are you saying MI7 is going to stop playing in IMAX once Oppenheimer arrives? Surely they can have both films playing at different times on the same day? And what does Barbie have to do with this? Is Barbie showing at IMAX too?
@FrameVoyager
Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. Part of it is the fact that 30 of the IMAX theaters are showing in 70mm IMAX film which takes hours to get into places to show. Reportedly Oppenheimer will take up every IMAX screen for 3 weeks. It does make sense considering it's Christopher Nolan and he used IMAX cameras to film his movie. That was more to show that within a week, 2 big blockbuster movies will suck up some of the attention and financial gain from Mission Impossible.

People get screamed at in kitchens every night but nobody gives a flying F but one movie star who is also a producer on the film loses it once and the world stops to look people need to understand that every move ever made is a miracle that it ever got to the screen dealing with hundreds of people and thousands of moving parts yeah I'd be losing it too.

Sadly I didn't think the film was that great. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but not as good as some of the previous Mi movies, and I think having 4 main 'strong' female leads was over the top considering they got way more screen time that the IMF team itself did. The 5'7", 57 kg blonde assassin beating up bodyguards and taking on Ethan in hand to hand combat was just too unrealistic. The motorcycle jump stunt that was in the news and pushed into our faces for so long as "one of the greatest stunts in movie history" (apparently they haven't watched too many movies, and has been done before BTW), came across in the movie as very weak.
