On my way back to Pennsylvania from Aberdeen, I made a stop at Fisherman's Park on the banks on the Susquehanna River in Darlington, MD. This allowed me to get an absolutely fantastic view of the Conowingo Dam, a massive hydroelectric dam which carries U.S. Route 1 across the river. Lined with dozens of spillways, the dam is quite the sight, and it's actually one of the things I wanted to see most on this brief detour down to Maryland.
As the name implies, this park is an incredibly popular fishing spot. Visitors are able to get to the water at several spots, and can even get very close to the dam itself. This area is also a very popular spot for turkey vultures. A large group of them was hanging around the park entrance, with many of them spreading out their wings.
