Thank you for your review, Paul. I bought one today and I hope it arrives soon. It's my first Contax!

i took into consideration what you said to my other comment on the RX, i’m a simple guy when it comes to film and im not picky. i’m just debating between this and the RX, any main differences?

I havn't done a video on the RX, at least not yet. The 167 is lighter and has an odd user interface, the RX is more like the standard Contax user interface, at least on the late contaxes. The 167 does not have a multiple exposure option, the RX does. The flash support on the RX is a it more sophisticated but the RX can suffer from mirror slip, I am not sure about the 167 in that respect.

I love my 167MT, but unfortunately it makes wrong readouts of the f-stops on my Zeiss 50/1.4 (AE; which works on the AX), but works perfectly with the Zeiss 45/2.8 pancake lens. Do you have any idea why this could be?..

You can get incorrect aperture readings from a lens, it could be the lens or the body, I would suggest trying a few lenses on the body, and seeing if it is only that lens that shows the problem. And trying that lens and the others on another body if possible. Basically determine whether it is the lens or the body. It is likely to be repairable. How far out is the value, is it always the same amount out, that is not uncommon.

Lens choice should probably be driven by what type of subjects you want to shoot. I would try either Yashica ML lenses or the Contax lenses if you can afford them. Zooms are a reasonable place to start if you don't have particular focal lengths in mind.

@@contaxpaulharrison942 @ContaxPaul Harrison Hey paul almost mainly work with the "mid-distance" focal lengths. 35mm / 50 are by far my most used focal lengths

@@finn4240 Well you could either get a zoom that covers them or buy some primes.

It was indeed a great camera. I used it professionally. But yours has a problem: 1.7 at AV instead of 1.4 I can see on your film. Did you notice? Do you know how to repair?

Well spotted, it looks like the aperture may have been 1/3 of a stop off. I have just re-tested this, and the camera is fine, it reads F1.4 with that lens on when the aperture is set to F.14, and I have tested a few other lens on the camera body and they also report the correct apertures. So I suspect that that lens may have had a problem with reporting the aperture correctly. I have seen this with a few lenses, and a camera repairer can usually fix this for you. On the odd occasion I have seen a camera body cause this, but it is usually the lens. You test the lens on several camera bodies, and the body with several lenses, and by a process of elimination work out which one has the fault. I suspect that either it was some one off issue with me mounting the lens on the camera, or I noticed the problem at some point, and got the lens repaired. I did not repair it myself.
