When you are playing on the mission Urdak, you will notice something very strange. As you progress through the level you will notice the lighting in the sky gets more and more violent and greenish. Once you defeat the Khan, the sky goes red and changes to red lightning. This same greenish colored glow and lightning can be seen inside the WorldSpear ship aswell, specifically when the Doom Slayer is going through to grab the crystal. The Father also says "He is worthy" and the Bridge rises from the water. How does the Father know who is in the ship and why would they listen to him? So whats the connection? Hugo Martin also said during one of his Livestreams that "The maykrs were designed by Davoth after the... I don't want to go too much into their details." The Maykrs could have prevented all of what happened to them if they had kept trying to find better more effecient if not more self sustaining methods to immortality, rather than simply leeching off of the father like parasites. Once their "food" was taken from them, they immediately fell into complete turmoil and collapse. It didn't help they had stroked their own ego's to the point of believing they were better than anything and everything else... it also didn't help how the father had more or less ignored this problem developing while trying to carry on the work of his creator, among other things. Something tells me that the Father had basically known that the Maykr species was dying, and could not be saved regardless of the tech used. So instead of trying to help them, he focused his gaze onto much bigger things. While losing the Maykrs would be a huge blow for him and others in the future, it could very well be exactly what he needs to set things right. It does make me wonder though what the Fathers grand plan is considering now his creator is gone, the Cahn Maykr is gone, his most loyal servent was corrupted and now gone for the most part (from what we know). So, where does he go from there, and what plans could he have now that the entity that symbolized absolute hate and evil was gone... but said creature was also the original creator of everything.

Davoth goes bad because his first creation was mortal? He was a god who could create a species but he couldn't choose what he created? The realm of Urdak "sprang" from him? If you ask me, seems like things aren't controlled by Davoth but only manipulated by him. The Maykr's looked into the future and saw that he was a threat to everything. Time is kinda the lynchpin of mortality, no? If you could manipulate time or were a god, it would follow that mortality would pose little more than an inconvenience. A spoiled kid who's toy broke because he played too rough with it is how it comes across to me. At best Davoth was a superior being with the meta perspective. Just like how that Maykr present themselves as angelic beings when all they really have is more advanced tech. They occupy the level above humans. Davoth above is above them but the story makes me think there is yet a further level above him

@@RagnarraWell, I've looked at the lore of the Ancient Gods, and it seems similar to Gnosticism (an obscure religion that's no longer practiced), with the God of the physical reality (Yahweh/"God") being Davoth, while the true highest God of the spiritual reality and the true creator of all is the Monad, who is completely perfect. Now, I don't think that Monad will appear in DOOM directly by name, but we'll likely see an entity that plays a similar role. Hope this makes sense

True but remember; Davoth is probably the only connection to his subjects- allowing him the reasons to think and feel for them. He created them and so there would be enough difficulty to actually exist as a higher being. I once actually felt the same way as you about him (no offense) but recently I believe his ‘obsession’ with immortality is actually the challenge he sets for himself in the recognition of being higher than who he is, while being the enemy of arrogance, which makes him right in the end. Perhaps one day we will see the aftermath of Doom Eternal.
@kgreen242424

@@troymorris2179 When I said the time would be little more than an inconvenience to a good, I was envisioning the way time flows in each realm relative to each other. Time is slower in one realm so it would theoretically be possible to nest realms in such a way that the people who went in now lived for extremely long times. If he had created said realms then I would say that was a possibility but he didn't. Urdak "sprang up around him". That would imply that he was not actively involved with it's creation. As we are speaking of God's, I will concede that I can imagine that it's possible for him to create something without actually knowing or wanting to. The way I interpret the specific use of sprang is to show that he is powerful but not omnipotent. It would have been described as created like the other realms are if that was the truth of it but the descriptor sprang is a deliberate choice. If we assume that the first realm was created for him and not by him, that would imply a higher order than he controls. Diction is important and the writers are cognizant of the difference in meaning when they say he created this realm but Urdak materialized around him. I feel like he could partly be responsible for that but I find the wording too compelling against that. He may have made some good points here and there but the makers are psychotic. His people are demons. He seems to make things that wind up bad. The realms reflect him but not every realm is hell. If he is causing the problems by being mad, he should not be mad so they can get by. None of the alien characters seem to have a good side. Hayden isn't a good guy. The priest dudes are just vile. Makers are con artists on universal scales. His hands don't make good things. Everything was great until his toys started to break. He then started throwing a temper tantrum. Eventually he stopped whining and woke up in hell. Lol. That's the Davoth time line from where I'm sitting
@troymorris2179

@@kgreen242424 you are right and I’m not saying you aren’t, what I’m implying is that for Davoth to be ‘bad’ we would have to be certain from the facts and falsehoods or superstition about him. Now I know you and lore did say that Urdak formed around him- how was picturing it is that the word “formed” technically isolated Davoth as a “god” (higher than such a minuscule task) so that much of story can be used to manipulate the truth, quite similar to what we saw with the Maykrrs. So imo time is of the critical importance to Davoth as it naturally over time selects him for the point of worship and yet at the same time; the fall of that, which is what happens. So I’m speaking from a particular perspective where it’s before Davoth fell yet where all the pieces of present can help analyze him. :)

Hugo Martin in an interview said that Davoth and Doomguy are the same person, but of different realms. Hugo then says that Davoth failed in his mission to save his people, but DoomGuy WAS able to successfully defend his people and retained an almost Godlike status among the Human population as we saw in the end of TAG2. So the question then becomes, what was Davoth trying to defend his people from? Why did the Mykrr race think that giving Humans immortality would destroy all creation, and sealed away Jekked even though Davoth himself was allready immortal? Davoth was fighting against something before Jekked turned into Hell. Perhaps he was rebelling against the ONE TRUE GOD, and that God helped the Mykrr father defeat Davoth. The ones who created primeevals in order to create new worlds for the ONE TRUE REALM OF CREATION to harvest. Keep in mind Hugo also referred to the events taking place as being a "Ritual" thats being overlooked by Samuels race of Maykrrs.

There were two points in this video that caused some confusion to me. Firstly, when they were tasked to find a cure for mortality you mentioned they did so but later on you talk about the whole transfiguration process that the Maykr go through so they didn't actually find a cure or was it just not a cure for their own mortality? You also spoke about the Khan Maykr and it seemed like they had one prior to the father ascending so why is it that the last Khan Maykr remained in power past the 10,000 years? Surely they must have had a way to do this process without the father if he wasn't present when it was first done. Great video, this isn't a criticism just curious.

Also, how was The Father able to communicate with the World Spear when he said, "He's worthy", allowing a bridge to take us into the Crystal ship? Who was he talkin to? Why would the World spear even take The Fathers advise into consideration??

I think DOOM's lore is more closer to Gnosticism rather than Christianity. Let me explain: Davoth/The Father = The Demiurge The Makyrs = Angels, the servants of the Demiurge Whoever created Davoth/possibly the voice that yells "NOOOO" when the Khan Makyr dies = Monad, the true creator God Wraiths = Servants of Monad It's implied that there are things above Davoth, and Davoth, creator of Jekkad, Urdak, and the Earth realms though he be, still has his limits (being unable to create immortal life). This is very similar to how the Gnostics viewed Yahweh/the Demiurge, simply as the God of the physical reality, despite claiming to be the God of everything. Though DOOM's lore may go in a more lovecraftian direction aesthetic-wise, I think it could still be seen as similar to Gnosticism. I don't think Monad will appear in DOOM by name, much like how the Demiurge figure is called Davoth/The Father (Depending on who is currently in power), we'll likely get a completely unique entity who simply plays the same role as Monad, as the creator of all things and truly all-powerful God. Can't wait to see where the lore goes in the future!

There are really two ways to look at NuDoom's plot: 1) It's a heavy metal concept album like something Rhapsody (of Fire) would make. Sure there's words but it's usually incoherent screaming. And somehow the whole thing just works because at the end of the day, you're having an experience, not receiving the first tablets of law or whatever. 2) It's a bog-standard Bethesda game where they didn't bother with competent high level writing to make sure the themes all gelled and the world bible wasn't a huge contradictory mess. So...yes, the writing is confusing and dumb. But you know what? Boomer shooters use plot in the same way arcade fighters do--it's just connective tissue to get you from the spectacle that just happened to the spectacle that's just beginning. For a doom reboot that level of writing feels about right. It's not meant to be Shakespeare.

who the hell wrote all this, this epic fantasy setting only lacks some space gnomes and stuff. Doom Eternal's lore is a dog's fever dream. I prefer when it was og hard-fi in Doom 16. The more I check lore of Doom Eternal the more I think it's stupid as all hell.

As much as I enjoy a fleshed-out backstory, does anyone miss the old Doom story of just "rip and tear the demons because demons are assholes who put bunnies heads on pikes"?

That's still the backstory though to my understanding, the events of the original doom games should still be canon. Notice he has the original doom armor on in the inscriptions of his time first reaching Argent D'Nur
