Hi! Nice video I would like to ask you some questions about the procedures about buying a car. If I buy a second-hand car in Finland with the annual circulation tax still in force, what costs would I have to pay to put it in my name and be able to drive. I mean, in Spain (where I'm from), when you buy a car you have to register it in your name and for that you have to pay 4% of the value of the vehicle in the contract. I've been looking for information about all the procedures to be able to drive with a vehicle already registered in your name, and I have seen that it is necessary to register it in your name and that can be done at the same time as the insurance, but I've not seen no place that has to be paid to do this process as is done in Spain. Could you answer this question? I would be very grateful

I can't remember, but I don't think there is any registration fee, or if there is it is a flat fee. the annual tax is calculated from the day you own it, and stops for the person selling it the moment it is sold, so you'll get a bill at the end of the year. I believe there is an overlap period for the insurance, maybe a week, during which you are covered, but need to buy insurance. please double check the info with traffi and an insurance company because I'm just saying what I remember, might not be completely accurate.

How was your experience of car dealers here?

In general fine. Pressure sales are few and far between.

And I would also like to ask you if the circulation tax (plus diesel), which is normally paid annually, can be paid for months, since I will not be all year in Finland and I would not need to have it for a whole year, only 3 months

I believe you can declare the car off the road for the months you don't use it. in my experience you only pay based on the days you own it. but again, you should check with traffi. diesel cars are usually not worth it unless you drive a lot, since the tax is very high (petrol is sold with tax at the pump, while diesel is not).

Dude the video was pretty good, only the loud music ruined it. Btw, I plan to get a 1994 Toyota Celica. Good choice for fuckin overpriced Finland? I want a good car but I cannot put my ass into a compact car. Would make me feel like a pussy. Help me dood! ;-)

hey, just saw this comment. no idea why youtube hides them. anyway, man, 1994 celica, that's pretty old.I know you don't want a compact car, but I also know quite a few people happy with fiat puntos, if all you want is something to get around in and don't care how ugly they look. Good friend of mine had an 05 punto that he bought for sub 500€. ran well for years with just routine maintenance. 2008 is kind of the sweet spot for used cars, after that prices jump up - people bought less cars after the economic crash, so there are less 09 and beyond cars competing for your sale, hence higher prices. Toyota's are good cars, but man, a 94 celica... likely the emisions tax will be pretty high and your l/100 as well. Most manufacturers have caught up with toyota's reliability, just need to google if there are any outstanding issues with whatever you are looking at. But then again, I'm not a car expert, so take my advice with caution.
