As stated before, Japan's total drop off in 2011 due to the Touhoku Earthquake and damage at the Fukushima power plant is felt here on the list, as Japan and it's main power agency ordered all nuclear power plants to shut down and/or cease operations while determining the safety/viability of each plant. At that point, Japan was using at least 60 percent of electricity generating from nuclear resources.

Nuclear (fission) reactors are actually a great way to generate electricity if they are built with appropriate fail safe mechanisms, and people avoid building them in earthquake or tsunami zones. They’re much greener than coal, oil, and natural gas. Disposing of spent fuel rods can be problematic, but not impossible to solve. The US should be building a lot more nuclear reactors, but people see the word “nuclear” and get scared.
