I’ve been catching up on watching your videos since I subscribed to your channel yesterday. I must say grandma is a very capable woman and she is a very traditional cook, making food from scratch no matter how laborious the procedures are. I notice you eat a lot of pickled and preserved foods. That’s because you do not want to waste the vegetables you grow since they are in abundance? It makes sense this way however it’s better to eat fresh and reduce intake of heavily salted foodstuff for health reasons. I too, cannot resist the crunch and intense flavours of dried and preserved foods as they perk you up and whet your appetite especially on a hot day but my doctor tells me to stay away from them or eat them occasionally. Hope to see grandma sharing more of her secret recipes with us and also the other aspects of her lifestyle, like shopping or making trips to the market, having a meal at her favourite eatery or having leisure fun time with the family. 😊

Grandma burns 50 times the energy as compared to city dwellers like myself. We are lazy couch potatoes who follow stupid diet fads, go to closed AC gyms which is full of unhealthy air. Grandma does phenomenal amount of physical work as compared to many young folks. She has a healthy lifestyle, breathes in unpolluted Air. Believes in utilisation of food , zero wastage Her fermentation n pickling methods are natural and organic. No Chemicals or preservatives.

This jogged my memory! My mom used cold rice with water to "pickle" napa cabbage. By the time I questioned her she was already beginning to suffer from Alzheimer's so I never got a recipe. Thank you for sharing; you put a smile on my face today.

Hey, sad to say, don't do it unless you are sure that your rice has no heavy metal contamination. Difficult to find. Rinsing water removes some surface contaminants.
