I think this is the most complete video of the creation in norse mythology I have seen. The only thing that could be better is if you added some animations. I love learning about the norse man and this is the best channel ! thanks !

Thank you for telling this wonderful story. I find it more enjoyable to hear someone tell me about the story instead of reading about it. This must be how our ancestered learned about the gods.

Awesome job. Im new to the channel and a little confused about the chronology of the creation of the world. As you say in this video, at the beginning there were only 2 worlds/lands, Niflheim, Muspelheim and an emptiness Ginungagap in between. What about Yggdrasil which supports all the nine worlds with its branches? Was Yggdrasil created later, after Ymir, or was it one of the things that were already there at the beginning? Because as I understand the 9 worlds are held by Yggdrasil and if it wasnt around yet at that time, then the first worlds were not held by it. Hope my question is clear :) Thanks

Thanks Samsatanson, and it is a good question. It is abit of a mystery on how, when and where Yggdrasil came about. Like you said; was it there from the beginning, or did Yggdrasil come later? The sagas does not talk about it, so that knowledge has been lost in time. Today we can only speculate on where Yggdrasil is from, since we have no written knowledge nor are able to see the world tree, because to us it is invisible.

Actually, in Völuspá stanza 2, the völva says: I remember nine worlds, nine ívíði (whatever that word refers to), the glorious measuring tree beneath the earth. This kinda suggests that the nine worlds existed before Yggdrasil.

YES, THE AUDUMBLA WAS THE ICE AGE SHEET THAT USED TO REMAIN OVER THE WHOLE NORTH HEMISPHERE OF THE WORLD, THIS WAS THE GIANT ICE SHEET, THAT WAS THERE FOR MANY AEONS, AND IN THE SOUTH WAS MUSPELHEIM, NORTH AFRICA IN THE HOT REGION OF THE WORLD!

The Norse creation myth is so vague, leaving lots to be desired and wanted. Videos produced on it are even more bare. Is it that people don't truly put an effort in? Or is it that there isn't enough information for a precise, informative video that answers all your questions? I suspect both.

just dropped by. our creation story is as good as any. i nearly died from covids 3 months ago and this brought me close to my god. near death experience will do that. the god i talked to had no form. i find the void interesting and the land of fire and the land of ice easy to see and relate to' it is almost scientific in simple observations. the cow feeding us. we are not lactose intolerant. have fun
