God she's beautiful. What a woman. Seeing her makes me feel glad to be alive. Someday I shall see her in concert. If she can come to Seattle and play with the Seattle Symphony, it will be wonderful indeed. Ansel Adams, the famous landscape photographer, was a classically trained concert pianist before he decided to pursue being a professional photographer full time. Many have said that his sense of timing, and drama, greatly influenced his photography and his skill for fine printing in the darkroom. Ansel said: ''My basic approach to photography depends on the visualization of the final print before the exposure is made,'' Adams said. ''It is not only a matter of seeing it in the mind's eye, but it's also and primarily a matter of feeling it -- feeling the various qualities that you wish to obtain in the final print. The shutter is opened and then the negative is developed. ''The negative can now be compared to a musical score. It's ready for its performance -- the print. If the negative is properly composed, technically and aesthetically, it can be performed so as to recreate the original visualized intention. So that finally I can say that I visualize the essence of the photograph to be.'' Sayaka-san's dedication to her craft, to playing better and better, to reaching for a higher plane while playing, to achieve a better sound. Her realization that sound is fleeting, it is and then it is gone. It is a wonderful realization and it illustrates her passion and love for the violin. Her high standards for her performances mirror Ansel Adam's high standards for his photography. They both are masters at their craft and it shows. Frank Zappa, American composer and guitar player, said: "Music, in performance, is a type of sculpture. The air in the performance space is sculpted into something. This 'molecule-sculpture-over-time' is then 'looked at' by the ears of the listeners---or a microphone."

When Heifetz, Oistrakh, Menuhin and many other fine violinists play something, I am hearing their individual styles. When Sayaka Shoji plays, I here the composer very clearly, without any technical handicaps. Get me right, I love the old romantics, but Sayaka Shoji is one of a kind and at the top of my list of violinists.

Sayaka Shoji in MHO is - using a western tern - a "Renaissance artist" but i rather view her using the eastern term "enlightened being"- I'm truly blown away by her thoughts & approach to art & life as a whole, which is expressed by the Violin- it's simply profound the way she expresses her thoughts - a truly artist - a rarity in today's World.
Back again to watch this. Thank you for this upload.

quinto34 I found this this morning. I think this is the best video ever to understand what she is thinking . To my surprise, here we can see the rehearsal of Ligeti's concerto. And we can see here the pictures she painted inspired by sevaral pieces.I am so glad that you can see here her Ligeti's concerto(2009), my dear friend.I think she had changed after the duo with Menahem Pressler. The beginning of Brahms' Regenlied was ghostly beautiful like this.
