@@Astrothunder_ I'm really hoping other devs (Once Lost, Obsidian, etc.) are successful at picking up the audience that has been left behind. @@Jay-ys2cf I have to admit, I am not so keen on the next elder scrolls for that reason. All the good stuff that gives the games depth are thrown out with the bath water. There is now only one type of way to play the game and it is more linear than sandbox now. It is a themepark and not an enviorment to explore. Around 3:13:55 they started talking about speech. In Skyrim it always did bug me that Intimidate was tied directly with speech craft. I always thought character physical build, gear and just all around presence should be a part of it. Example - The Riften Guard stops you at the gate to try and shake you down. A tiny wood elf in some basic robes shouldn't have the same level of "Intimidation" as a Giant Orc/Nord in full plate. Something along those lines.
@schmid1.079
Жыл бұрын
There are lots of ways to hurt someone in skyrim, and a tiny wood elf describing how he could use magic to burn me to crisps, ressurect me and do it again would be a lot more terrifying than a simple warrior... even if that was a lie. Speech! Also from a gameplay perspective speech is the most useless skill in the game. Those speech checks are essentially the only time it does something meaningfull.
@Duranous.
3 ай бұрын
That and Speechcraft was so binary. Either it worked 100% and it behaves like a Jedi mind trick or it doesn't. Plus there are so many times where you can't even use it. For some reason you can tell a thief who was about to gut you to f off and they do but you accidentally run over a chicken and the entire town wants your head. One would think that situation could be easily remedied with out violence or guards by just paying the owner restitution for their chicken.

His dissing on the dragon break I think deserves some pushback. It's one of the best features of the franchise. It makes you think really hard beyond that of time travel and it does have sensible conclusion because it's merely the rearranging of all the parts contained within the Mundus. It's less of a contradiction and more of something like that of data compiling as if the Elder Scrolls universe exist within a computer

I've been binging your long form content on TES, while I'm not new to the community as I've been playing Skyrim since I was 9(currently 19, 20 in march), only played around 30 hours in ESO. Never really learned much thats outside of Skyrim, like your video on Saadia and the Alkir warriors really made me realize that I know nothing on the history of this universe, as I believed Saadia but what you said in the video, like the Redguard hate elves so theres no way they'd ever side with the Thalmor! I know Skyrim's history of the nords coming from Atmora and wiping out the Snow elves and the whole thing. But outside of it is a mystery to me. So from me, a baby histrion that loves the series and your videos, Thank you for everything you've done. From the long form content explaining and theorizing to easter eggs, Thank you. I look forward to move videos and everything you have in store for us ♥

I really love the idea of a game where you get a sub skill related to HOW and WHO you learned speechcraft. So like they say towards the end, get a dude who’s super persuasive and personable with fellow nobles, knows all the unspoken rules of etiquette and how to navigate the politics, and put them in a merchant guild where their fully lost on how to talk with merchants in a way that makes them likely to be helpful. Make it a skill that can be raised through use and have each major group have a persuasion check against a specific type of interaction.

probaly won't see this, but wanted to give some legit engagement seeing that I am unable to donate in any other meaningful way. I've loved all your lore videos, I've been a fan of the elderscrolls going way way back to arena, and while my memory fails me frequently on lore, i've loved watching and rewatching many of your videos. sometimes as background noise other times as something to sit and just benge for a while. thanks for all the work you guys put into your videos! and a special thank you to Ted Peterson too, I'm not going to lie i've way to often overlooked his importance to some of the many games that have brought joy to my life.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, thanks to you both for making it! Also, I'm a Brit and I wasn't even sure what Great Britain referred to! Turns out it's the island with England, Scotland and Wales on! 😅🤦♀️ Probably should have known that! However, I do know the British Isles refers to all of it, and the United Kingdom is (currently) everything except the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man!
