He said "besides a few spices there are basically two ingredients ..." How much more of a disclaimer do you want/need? Most people have the spices they most enjoy on hand. Failing that, if they enjoy spicy foods, they can splash some hot sauce into the buttermilk.

This is my favorite way to make onion rings. Shout out to you, man, for including the key spice: smoked paprika. I have fun making three batches... single-drench, double-drench (like you show), and triple-drench. Single drench is nice for folks that like more onion flavor and triple is great as a salad or burger topping.

@@120Stevo Most frequently I fry them in a canola oil blend (high smoke point) but if I had it on hand I'd prefer peanut oil. I think you get a better flavor with peanut oil, personally.

I just found your channel been watching a lot of your vids stay strong my good man hope to see a lot more recipes to come! Hey man sorry to hear about your diagnosis that's really unfortunate best of luck with everything. I'm a big proponent of medicinal cannabis and think you should consider adding it to the regime. Great for stomach issues, relaxation, and overall mental wellness among many other things. The stigma is just sad that people can't use a plant from mother nature to enrich their lives. Similar process to making haystacks as well. Use a mandolin to get the onion super thin and dunk in buttermilk, quick toss in some seasoned flour, and fry until lightly GBD.

In Spain we do this with 3 vegetables: aubergine battons, onions and green peppers. Just seasoned flour and damp slices, no buttermilk.
