As a Cure fan since 1986 this song is and absolute gem and more than worthy of being named among their best. Definite Wish vibes or Bloodflowers. Such raw emotion and Robert never released it!

@Allow me No, it's about Smith never having a child and regretting it.

@@skypekai He's not regretting it. "I’ve never regretted not having children. My mindset in that regard has been constant. I objected to being born, and I refuse to impose life on someone else. Living, it’s awful for me. I can’t on one hand argue the futility of life and the pointlessness of existence and have a family. It doesn’t sit comfortably."

To Wish Impossible Things.

@@skypekai According to Robert Smith it’s not about him wanting a child. He said it was inspired by 2 things: (1) some friends of his who lost their child; (2) the discovery of the ‘Turkana Boy’ by Richard Leakey.

A year later after I listened to this song live in Mexico City my baby died the day it was planned to be born, so you can imagine how special and painful it's to me to listen this song. After several yeras I can do it without being in tears since the beginning. It's a great song about one of the biggest pains a human being can experience

@@fraueimerkopf5541 no problem, life goes on and I've moved on. Actually I was seeking for the song. I don't know the origin of the song, maybe because Robert has no children? By the time Robert was working with the songs that became Dream 4.13 he said in an interview he did the happiest and the saddest song he'd ever written, one that left in tears the ones that listened to it so maybe he wouldn't release it at all, maybe this is the one.

@@ooviedoc I don’t think it’ll be on the new record because it was first recorded in 2004 and re-recorded in 2008: I think it’ll be on the Deluxe versions of Self-Titled and 4:13 Dream: if they ever some out.

new album coming, robert has said at the time that this song (regularly played on this tour) didn’t suit the sound of 4:13.. now he says there’s a classic cure album ready... i’m guessing this may be on it...?

I believe he said that he cut this song. They were going to release it in 2014 then Robert said he had second thoughts and decided to leave it unreleased.
