I really don't like the song, but Cardi made all the right moves and I respect that. She took that LAHH/viral/meme fame, worked more at her craft and then ran with it. I really haven't heard anything from her that makes me think she'll have longevity though. Her verse on that "Island Girls" track is dumpster juice.

She pretty much took Kodak Black’s No Flockin, added her own flare to it and it just blew the fuck up. The song brings out this raw aggression of a lot of females out which is what makes this song so popular and you constantly hear this song at the clubs and see girls go crazy when it comes up lol.

Vic Robbins I don't think Cardi will be able to replicate this hit. Cause you listed why I a woman likes the song. 1. It's her own flare to Kodak Blacks song cause I hate Kodak but his beats are nice. 2. The song is semi relateable if you work and feel like a sexy boss woman. 3. She is very marketable to ignorant / insecure / sheep women or men.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Bodak yellow. The lyrics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the verses will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also cardi B's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realise that they’re not just good- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike bodak yellow truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the word bodak yellow which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as cardi Bs genius wit unfolds itself on their radios. What fools.. how I pity them lol.

Speaking as someone who just heard the song for the first time, she comes off as another trap rapper riding on the back of her producer. The beat is total fire but she really doesn't bring much to the song imo. So many soundcloud/internet rappers are only successful because they know some incredibly talented producers.

Square watermelons are watermelons grown into the shape of a cube. This is generally intended for space efficiency in small refrigerators. The practice of growing cube watermelons is popular in Japan. However, the cube watermelons are often very expensive and therefore are sold more as an ornamental novelty. Square watermelons were intended to fit more compactly in fridges and be able to be cut more easily (without rolling). They were invented by graphic designer Tomoyuki Ono in 1978. She presented the watermelons in a gallery in Ginza, Tokyo. She also applied for and received a patent in the United States. According to the BBC, the watermelons were invented during the 1980s by a farmer who lived on Shikoku in Zentsuji, Kagawa. The melons are grown in boxes and assume the shape of the container. They tend to appeal to wealthy or fashionable consumers because in 2001 they cost anywhere from two to three times a normal watermelon (at about $83). Since the advent of the square watermelon, other watermelon shapes have been introduced, such as hearts and pyramids.

'doo wop do that thing' is a good song that has stood the test of time... ...the cardi B song I first heard while I was at work, and I thought it was a local kiwi artist and the radio was just supporting a local artist. lol Not to say New Zealand dont produce some ok hip hop, but this song just does not sound good???...... don't slaughter me. please. lol But surprisingly the radio station (a hip hop station) didnt even play this song very much after I heard it the first time. That's surprising for a popular number one, don't you think? maybe its just a NZ thing though. Good job Melon.

It's popular because it's Cardi B. No one can defend it on a musical level but she's such a popular personality online and in interviews that her legions of followers made it a huge track.

One thing I love about this song has nothing to do with the music. Seeing the recognition of the producer on the artwork is something I hope happens more and more. About time they got some recognition alongside the person singing the lyrics that they probably didn't write themselves

Hey, please hear out Azealia’s point of view before writing her off as a hater. She was saying this is the first time black male rappers have been seen so avidly supporting a female rapper, when before they’ve been so down on darker girls like Nicki, missy, Lauryn, and Azealia herself.

Anthony I find so weird that you seem to hate on "SJW" and "feminists" yet your reasoning line is pretty close from most point the so-called "SJW" or "feminists" bring up to table.

Ohana 私は死にたい He leans left, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Modern progressives are the extreme versions of his own ideology so it's not too strange to see an overlap like this.

I CAN'T MAKE A FUCKING KTT ACCOUNT, I mean that Anthony seems to recognize that there are groups in our current society that are more privileged than others. It is true that he never uses any terminology such as "oppression" or "privilege," but we have to remember that both "oppression" and "privilege" (or whatever word you think an "SJW" would use) are words that denote concepts. I see that instead of using these words he ends up explaining them at length, but in the end he is saying the same thing. This video and others he has previously released about women in Hip-Hop (like Danielle Bregoli) are great examples of this. He acknowledges that Hip-Hop has long been dominated by men, and not only that, but also that for a long time Hip-Hop has been misogynistic. Therefore it may be hard for a women to be in the Hip-Hop game. That is, it would be argued that the problem of the Hip-Hop community is a discriminatory one, but not because these women Hip-Hop artists are bad, but because they are women. There are several other videos that also point to a line of reasoning similar to the "SJW". There is that video in which he explains why he does not use the n-word. One way to summarize that video is to say that Anthony recognizes his privilege and recognizes what the N-word is in its both historically and culturally context and so he concludes that he will not use the N-word. And this is basically the same arguments that a "SJW" would use to argue why one should not use words with strong racist, transphobic, ableist, sexist, etc., connotations. However, it is true that it seems to me that some of their beliefs are in apparent contradiction. For example, in the video that he explains why he does not use the N-word he seems to be just explaining his individual point of view, but he does not seem to be prescribing anything to society i.e. see his comment section in that video, because a lot of people used the n-word and there were a lot of racists comments. But this seems to be contradictory given that he believes to be true that he shouldn't use the n-word, because its racist yet he doesn't apply this conclusion to the larger context of our society. Does this mean that he would not care if the most of society and his fan-base were racist? I don't know how to respond to this, but if he treats this as just _"his personal preference to not use some words"_ it seems to imply that he would not really care if this situation were to happen.

Ohana 私は死にたい weeb jk but I think you looking too deep into this. Sjw concepts are alright in concept but are more extreme in feminist places. Nothing wrong with saying racism, sexism, classism is bad but they do it to extreme levels to where it's laughable. He just seems like a moderate liberal doesn't seem sjw too me.

It's almost like people have their own opinions on things. Although, I really don't see how his reasoning is close to a SJW, not every person who leans left is tosses logic out the window.

There are so many times that ive been to shows/the club were the DJ would play any Drake, Migo or Future record and everybody (mostly dudes) would be whylin out rapping the song lyric for lyric, turning up with their homies. With this single its like women have their own club anthem that gets them specifically lit in a sense. Every dude willingly becomes the hypeman for the ladies who go off during this song. In a way its a unique experience. It is as if this single has the same influence as a Beyoncé record but in the form of a trap banger. Which (besides Nicki, Remy and Young MA etc..) the industry is very scarce of.

Song of the summer for real it was everywhere! I thought she was gonna reach number one a while ago but then TS dropped her song (maybe also my dislike for Taylor mixed with liking Cardi and hearing that she was so close to being the first in 19 years) I don't when another opportunity would come to break a record like that so even though I wasn't actively listening to the song anymore I did still stream it (on mute)

I think the main reason it blew up is because of how fucking simple it is. Super easy to sing along to. I think now she's gonna try more "complex" songs and they won't be played as much and she doesn't have the talent to carry a legit rap career so itll just fizzle out.
