"How did you lose at every belt level, but when you reached black belt-the hardest belt to compete in-you became a world champion? At first, I didn’t know the answer because I wasn’t doing anything different. I was focused, training every day, and not staying home just because I was tired. I trained hard for years.
Eventually, I came to a conclusion, and this is what I think is important for you to remember: you don’t become a champion on the day of the tournament. You don’t pass your belt test on the day of the test. You don’t succeed in school on the day of the final exam. You succeed every day when you follow your routine, doing what is necessary to reach your goal. You’re not going to pass a test in school by studying just an hour before. You need to study every day. You’re not going to win a tournament if you only prepare the week before. Whether it’s martial arts, soccer, football, baseball, or anything you play, it’s the everyday routine that prepares you to achieve something big." Felipe Costa
