Damp lad is somewhat endearing in this. He does go about things in a twisted way but he's been taken advantage of and never given a fair chance. Less of a monster than he was in the first chapter when he's given up on subtlety and nuance in favor of hounding the object of his desire.

1:11:40 Did I miss something? The story went from The Damp Man killing the wrong person, to George in a room with dead people, reading TDM's diary? What happened to TDM that makes George and Linda free of him forever? I feel like I missed a chapter or at least a very busy paragraph...
@CallumBradbury

TDM died at the end of story 2, part 1 and 2 of this story are his diary, showing things from his perspective, until the part you referenced which is when it returns from the flashback to the 'modern' day.

Eleven: As Carter stood there sleep addled and befuddled in his Shocking Pink Furry-Cthulhu Slippers, he apprehended that there had been a significant change to the familiar dimensions of his loft. It appeared to him to have become smaller, very much smaller as if the walls of his room had closed in all about him while he had slept. This was because of the boxes. Carter’s attic was packed with boxes, crates and cartons full of Horror Babble merchandise stacked high and deep against every wall and which completely blocked the garret's only doorway. Upon careful examination of the various packages that now barred his only exit; Carter found them to be quite immovable; at least from his side of the door.

R. Carter could just send one of his kitty pals out for pizza. Although, from experience, it seems like cats only listen when they feel like it, so Carter should resign himself to not getting any food until Cathulu gets hungry.

I listened to all 3 in a row today, and I have some questions that maybe someone here can answer. *Spoilers* 1. Was the monster actually supposed to be the scientist's real son, and was he experimented on to become the thing he is? Or was he something created from scratch and just called his "son" because he was his creation? 2. How did the guys "father", the scientist, suddenly come back to life to kill him? That part made zero sense to me. 3. So let me get this straight...the scientist is meant to have died at least 20 years ago. George is a young man. So either he was abducted by the scientist and experimented on when he was a child (which he would have heard something about, if only that he mysteriously disappeared as a kid), or he was an adult and hasn't aged in all that time and somehow hasn't noticed. AND is only 𝘯𝘰𝘸 noticing that he bleeds serum instead of blood. A little far fetched, no? 😂 Great story over all though!

Thanks, I didn't get that George was also Damp, but you spelled it out
@TheImmortalDivine
Жыл бұрын
@ombra7112 Well now that you put it that way, it raises more questions: if he's like the damp man (which the story did imply at the end), why did he not share that same thirst and "dampness"? 🤔 I feel like this was a case of the author putting in a last minute twist that wasn't thought through very carefully, unless I'm the one missing something. Thanks for pointing that out.

I might have misinterpreted the ending, but I read it as George accidentally submitted himself to the same process that Luther senior used on his son, by walking into the basement while the machine was on, turning him into a Damp Man.

Ok question about the meaning of the ending. After George says he will propose to Linda, he says “that will be the beginning” does that mean, on top of now having tdm’s abilities, or that’s what i thought the shaving scene implied, he intends to carry out the same plan TDM had on Linda?

I don't think that Lotor wanted that at all. At the end of TDR Returns, Lotor was setting up to change Linda by the transfusion method. The diary in this one talks about how there was also an 'evolutionary' method. George is exploring the house and sees the stage setup with the machines, and inspects them. The implication is that Lotor had them ready in case the transfusion method didn't work, and they were left on because no one realized it. George just wandered across the 'area of effect' while inspecting them.

Spoiler: . . . . Given the ending, did the conversion process imbue a desire to make a superior race? Did it increase remove the red-blooded humanity and replace it with an ice-water soul? Does that make the Damp Man (and now our hero) more of a pitiful figure?
