The athletes get money from playing the sport, and what I would assume the marketing around it. Nobody wants to see a game where they know their team will lose, and the team wouldn't want to play because of that. Investor's will lose money, tourism may falter, teammates may not get paid, it has a weird domino effect. It's truly terrible, but I don't see that working long term. 😬

In a small small way I understand. When I was a kid my mom would whoop my ass daily. I was the only one and if you ask her it’s because I was more “hard headed” or “needed more guidance”. No she was just beating me up and bullying me. I would never say it out loud because that’s not the image everyone else sees. I remember I made my first ever C or D. My sisters and I were A or A/B students. I knew that she would kill me when I got home. I begged my older sister not to show her grades, but she wanted to because she was proud of herself. The whole way home I cried, I could feel this fear that left me heavy and petrified. I thought of how to end my life, run away, change the grade. Until finally I just stayed in that fear until I was numb. My body went on autopilot and I just walked home and took it. I know this isn’t 1 percent of what they were feeling but I know what it feels like to go somewhere you know isn’t safe, not good for you, to do something for honor, or pure autopilot. The rest of the world stares at you and you aren’t staring back. Just blank. You’re there but not there anymore.

I knew my progress report would be in the mail, when we returned for the week at my main home. Seeing it there physically, my father handling the paper, opening it & reading it. I haven't had these memories in a while, and it's a powerful reminder how we grow up & move on.. regardless if those memories are simply suppressed, or dealt with in any way. That gut feeling. It was so painful & scary, to be on an 1.5 hour drive home, knowing it was curtains once we arrived.

As an extra fact, the 7-0 to Portugal was the only game they put on TV, and after such defeat, they went on to say Portugal won the World Cup, so that they lost to the World Champions and it was Ok

Stop spreading misinformation. The player that was crying was Jong Te-Se, a Zainichi Korean that was allowed to play for the DPRK National Team. He was crying during the playing of the National Anthem because he was proud to represent the DPRK. No players were punished upon returning home, just a scolding session. The DPRK’s 7-0 loss to Portugal was even televised live. Do better.

This is very accurate. I’ve worked with many different ethnicities and they would tell me that people in fact would be killed for losing the World Cup. Fútbol is the biggest sport worldwide and losing on that stage is seen as an insult and embarrassing to the country. It could cost you your life. 💯

Accurate my ass.... the Crying Athlete is Jong Tae-se and he didnt "Disappear" never to be seen again... he played in Bundesliga the year after this loss, played in International Charity matches around the world like in Shanghai 2016, for fucks sake he even appeared in this years Netflix Show PHysical 100 , Season 2. Original Video is all lies. dont believe the bullshit.

@@Cjherand What does that have to do with people disappearing after losing the World Cup? I’m not guessing, this is first hand information that people just go missing for no reason. You think what you want and I’ll go with the real evidence and newspapers that had missing people or bodies found very shortly after the event happened.

@@Cjherand Damn this one video, people have been and are still punished for losing the World Cup. I first hand saw the articles that showed missing persons and such only to see bodies recovered weeks later if at all. You believe what you want, I’ll go with the raw evidence and reports I was able to see with my own eyes. Not some here say stuff.
