The nhl cares more about the gambling situation than covering up sexual assault

This is an awesome vid, you should honestly have way more subs. One tip tho, I thought you never really expressed your opinion on it or solutions. That being said, I can’t think of any solutions. Sports gambling is such a huge industry, I don’t think there’s enough other ads for them to say no.

Thanks for the compliment! I was mostly just trying to present the situation as it is, but it's tough to see how the NHL will deal with the impact on youth.

Please keep going with the channel! This is the sort modern sports journalism I love. Fan made but not rants or arguments, just some nice calm breakdowns of what's happening in the game.

Sports betting in Canada has been going on since about the late 1980's with our "Over/Under" Sports Select gambling. I used to work in a convenience store and there was one guy that came in EVERY DAY and spent thousands -- Every Day. This is not really a new problem. Just a problem that is now shoved into the face of every person watching an NHL/NBA/NFL game (and probably MLS)

After watching some of the stuff during last year's playoffs... calls not being made, phantom calls etc., I really began to question the integrity of the refs. I mean, how difficult would it be for them to 'miss' a call if it indirectly helped their bottom line? Good luck trying to prove that too with offshore bank accounts being a famous go to reality. Until gambling is removed from sports, I'll not believe that fixing/management isn't an issue. Honestly, they'd be stupid not to (make a 100k+ in a playoff series betting on the underdog... "Oops, missed that call."). Ever since Vegas joined the NHL, it's turned to shit with all the gambling garbage.

I was a charity volunteer at the Casino in the Oilers Rogers Place area, right after a game. In 3 hours, I literally counted over $300,000 in less than 4 hours. Unreal.

I'm perplexed at especially the fact that there are betting markets about drafts and free agency; props which, by their nature, are going to have a select group of people who are in a very privileged position to know which bets will win. How is that not practically _begging_ people to pull all sorts of shenanigans?

Those fucking betting ads drive me insane. It’s constant and makes me want to quit watching hockey altogether. Also, I thought there was no possible way I could hate The Vegas Golden Blights any worse. Now I definitely do. Great video and I totally agree and then some.

In a way, gambling addiction is worse than being addicted to drugs. With drugs, your body eventually gives out, waking up in the emergency room is the wake up call some people need to get their life back together. There’s nothing like that with gambling. Also it’s easier to avoid heroin or alcohol than it is an app on your phone.

Just the fact that Vegas, that doesn't care at all about hockey, came out of nowhere and won a cup while no Canadian team has won for 30 years, is just a tad suspicious.

Vegas has had a consistent minor league hockey team since the Las Vegas Thunder in 1993, followed by the Las Vegas Wranglers and has had some kind of hockey starting with the Las Vegas Gamblers in 1968, but yeah sure, whatever fits your narrative. And if you think Vegas doesnt care about the Knights... well youve never been to Vegas then.

@@IusedtohaveausernameIliked i mean look at how Vegas built their team. Scouting first, sniping absolute studs for almost nothing. Florida gave Reilly Smith to Vegas so Marchessault could win the Conn Smythe against them. Fleury ASKED Rutherford to trade him to Vegas, and they still manage to fleece a 2nd rounder to pick him. Then the little pick ups, perennenial 4th liner Chandler Stephenson into stud middle six center. Aggressively going after key pieces like Pietrangelo. Barbashev being their missing piece. I mean shit, even stuff they initially get clowned on, trading Pacioretty for nothing, only for him to only play... 6 games, something like 1.1 million cap per games played, the following season?

@@csharp48 More words doesn't make their instant success any less suspicious. Don't you think that other teams are trying stuff too? I mean I don't have any evidence to go on other than gut feel but it just seems fishy. I'm willing to admit that I could be wrong and that Vegas and the NHL is all above board but I just can't shake the feeling that something is amiss.
@csharp48

@@IusedtohaveausernameIliked I mean, clearly Vegas was given an advantage that only one other team has, with how they expanded the expansion draft rules in favor of the new team, but I think Seattle proved that the rules aren't broken, just tilted. Vegas just absolutely fleeced the rest of the league with trades and then became ULTRA competitive in the trade market. I can't think of any other team that has fully gone for trading for huge piece after huge piece like Vegas has, nor any team that's really had the opportunity to. Eichel's whole situation, Armstrong absolutely flubbing retaining Pietrangelo, Pierre Dorian's "best trade of his career" giving away Stone for loose change. There are smaller other advantages, like no tax state, not having to deal with snow, the locker room seems incredible and auxiliary advantages like the owner Foley taking them to his gigantic ranch before every season.
