Gus Dudgeon was more than just a producer. He did a great job with the brass arrangement on Honkey Cat, Teenage Idol, Elderberry Wine and Midnight Creepers. I remember being sad when Gus passed. Not sure what I was doing, like I did when I heard of Dee's passing. In an interview, Gus was complimentary to each member of the Elton John Band. It's hard to imagine all that he meant to Elton John and his band. While I'm all for the EJ Band being inducted in the R&RHoF and Bernie, too, it would be great to have Gus and Paul Buckmaster included

Thanks for this interview. I am lucky to have His "China" album and another one he did. Was he able to sing one of His solo songs during a Elton John concert?

Good afternoon John really enjoying this interview with Davey Johnstone. Love Elton's music....even if I really haven't given his newer music a fair chance. Makes my heart happy that they're still making music together. Sending some love to you and family ✌🕉☃️

When I was a kid, I said, “Gus Dungeon” and “Davey John Stone,” like the guy mentioned in the lyrics in the song ‘Sloop John B,’ made most famous by The Beach Boys. Let’s not forget the great work Gus did with XTC.

I with you would have talked more with Davey about how GUS worked in the studio. What Was his magic gift as a producer?

Are you using that RE20? It sounds like you're talking into the mic on a laptop for the intro.

Yes an RE20 but for whatever reason it didn't connect right to my iPhone so all the intros and extras for this series have that dreaded room echo. Thanks for watching BTW.

Dudgeon produced Elton’s superstar sound. The recordings were brilliant; crisp. He created amazing separation in sound of the instruments. Today, it sounds as though the microphone is simply placed in the center of the studio. Not great.
