[Verse]
It was 1968 at a college friend’s place,
Heard the blues in a way that set my soul ablaze.
Paul Butterfield was blowin', Cream was gettin' loud,
Elmore James slidin', Jimi's sound stood proud.
[verse]
I knew right then, this was my new way,
Blues piano, man, I was ready to play.
Spent days in my room, those notes by my side,
From simple riffs to that bluesy stride.
[verse]
I went to Tottenham Court road, blues books in hand,
Hours at the keys, tryin’ to understand.
From slow, sweet licks to a heavy jam,
Learnin' the blues, piano in a West London band.
[verse]
Fingers feelin' stiff, but I wouldn’t stop,
'Cause the rhythm and soul, man, it started to pop.
From the records I heard to the keys I’d pound,
I was findin' my groove, lettin' that blues sound down.

(Bridge)
Then came the pubs, the clubs, the smoky bars,
Playin’ with the boys under London stars.
I’d let my fingers fly, with the crowd in the groove,
The more I played, the more I improved.

Now the years have passed, but the blues still flows,
From those first records, to the keys I know.
I owe it to those nights, in '68 so sweet,
When the blues piano found me, and set me free.
