Nearly all Pirate ships were comparatively weak to vessels of the various Navies. In their nature of pillaging and escaping with their loot, they had to be FAST. In that, they had to be light and high in the water, which meant often smaller vessels with fewer guns. Any Spanish or British command ship could easily take down any Pirate ship on the water when within broadside cannon range. But you can't GET in range if you can't catch them. This is why the Interceptor was a better match for the Black Pearl than the Dauntless was.

@VTxHawkz
7 ай бұрын
The sparrow tattoo (sometimes a swallow) denotes 5000 nautical miles a sailor has travelled at sea. Every 5000 miles they would get one. This is because of their association as a symbol of return as they’re both able to cover great distances and get home safely. The tattoo for sailing around Cape Horn is of a fully rigged 3 mast ship under sail, usually covering the whole back. Sailors who completed this feat also wore an ear ring on the landward side

Actually it didn't if you look at the full timeline Remember Jack is a Generational Pirate, his father being the Keeper; he was raised in the life, We also do know that something did happen cause Jack isn't really KNOWN for also being his kid( and considering how fucking terrified the other pirates are of pissing him off that too is odd) means Jack had to have left it alone/ did go by the family name first this incident and he earned it here, remember, a pirate/officer switching sides or working together isn't a suprise it happens alot. Jack could have been working with Beckett(undercover or not) and when Jack did what he did it was the first time jack was ACTUALLY caught, so he got his brand and when they wanted to know his name he was smart enough not to say his actual one, and instead went with the Pirate name he earned. And thats if Jack didn't just straight up introduce himself to B as Jack Sparrow.

What I love about jack sparrow in these movies is how he became a pirate. He was tasked with dealing slave, instead he freed them. This upset the east India trading company so they branded jack. This is learned in dialogue (can’t remember if it was deleted or not) between jack and commodore in which jack replies at some point “people aren’t cargo!” This is also reflected in Davy Jones deal with Jack for 100 souls to save his one. Which is why jack is so reluctant and even faces his fate rather then sell people away. And no Jack still wasn’t 100% a great guy but he was much better then other pirates we see in the films.
